I am a psychotherapist with 30 years experience of working in addiction. I specialise in helping adults with alcohol, drug and pornography problems, but also work with those struggling with anxiety, anger or relationship issues.
As well as practising privately, I currently work at The Nightingale, a private adult mental health and addiction hospital in Marylebone in central London.
An initial consultation to discuss your needs in more detail is half my usual session fee.
I work with alcohol and drug dependence and other compulsions as behavioural defences. These defences cause us problems. Our tasks are to stop or control the substance use or compulsion, establish the emotional issues that you are avoiding and help you face them healthily. Similarly, I work with anxiety as a symptom or warning of emotional difficulties.
The best way to find the right therapist for you is to meet two or three and make a decision based on who you felt best understood your problem and gave you the clearest idea of how they could help you. This can make finding the right therapist expensive so, in consideration of this, I charge half my usual session rate for our initial meeting.
