I am a psychotherapist and addiction specialist with 27 years experience of working in addiction. I work in the short and long-term, on a weekly, fortnightly and ad-hoc basis with young and older adults to help them with addiction and the issues that underlie their dependence, including anxiety, anger, depression and relational difficulties.
I am an ‘integrative’ psychotherapist and counsellor, which means I believe that a single therapy approach will not help you with all issues that arise for you, and that there are many different therapeutic ways for problems to be explored and worked on. Consequently, I draw on techniques and ideas from different ‘schools’ and models of therapy.
At the heart of my work is helping you see how when you avoid the experience and expression of your emotions, and your physiological anxiety, you create and perpetuate your problems. Our work together would be to help you see the defences you adopt against feelings, and turn against them.
