Hello, if you're looking for a creative way to explore your concerns, in Art Therapy you will have the opportunity to use art-making as a means of communication and self expression. I offer a safe, confidential, person-centred creative space and a rich variety of 2D and 3D art and craft materials for drawing, painting, crafting and clay modelling. Your art-making process and image can then provide the focus for reflection and discussion. No experience in art is necessary and although the emphasis will be on your art-making, it is your choice of how much talking you wish there to be in your session.
Art Therapy is a form of psychotherapy informed by psychodynamic and integrative therapy theories and can be practised with children, young people and adult clients. In Art Therapy, like other forms of counselling and psychotherapy, the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist is of central importance.
Involvement in the creative process in therapy can help process difficult feelings or traumatic experience. It has the potential to rebuild self-esteem, help promote emotional self-regulation and improve self-confidence. You may be surprised by the significant or deeper meaning expressed in your artwork and we can explore this together.
