Hi, I hope your search for a therapist is going well. It can be a difficult process, but it is important to find a therapist who feels right for you. The relationship with your therapist is, on average, more helpful than their training and experience. Person-centred therapy is a relationship. It is not dependent on medical diagnoses, yet can help with all conditions. It is well proven to be as effective as other leading therapies, but uniquely it puts the client at the centre of the process. There is no 'you have x or y' or 'you should do this'. The right questions, and answers, will come from within in our conversations.
I’m a fully-qualified 'person-centred' psychotherapist/ counsellor/ coach, with degree-level training. Working with clients online and locally. Much of my work is with depression, anxiety, phobias, OCD, panic, relationships, trauma, and adult ADHD. I’d also like to work with you if you simply want to further enhance the quality of life.
Please note: The person-centred approach is unique. It is phenomenological (the therapist seeks to understand things from the client’s perspective) and it is non-directive (working within the client's train of thought). It is difficult to learn. Although many therapists claim to work in a ‘person-centred’ way, they may not be well trained for this.

Groups
West Cornwall Encounter Groups
Encounter groups provide an environment where you are supported and encouraged to examine your feelings and actions in relation to yourself and others. The group experience is therefore the result of every member's contributions, and is unique each time. The role of the facilitator is only to assist and support members in their engagement and learning, and, where appropriate, to be a resource for others. Encounter groups will be held on a few weekends each year. They will involve about 6 hours each day, ending in late afternoon (total contact time for the entire weekend will be 12 hours).

Online encounter groups
I facilitate online encounter groups, about four times per year. These are a person-centred way to meet each other at a depth not available in our day-to-day interactions. In doing so we challenge ourselves to grow in openness and authenticity. Encounter groups are highly therapeutic and are powerful mechanisms for personal development.
