Families can be the biggest source of love, intimacy and support;yet at times we struggle to communicate in healthy ways with the ones we love the most. There is no lonelier place than being in a parent, child, sibling or spouse role and feeling completely disconnected and isolated from those around you. Systemic Family work explores emotional triggers, dysfunctional patterns and unhelpful coping strategies with an aim of bringing understanding to each family member. I will endeavour to build trust, and help to develop empathy between family members. I can work one to one, or with the family group together to improve communication.
I am a registered Social Worker with 15 years experience in a role as a Family Therapy and Systemic Practitioner. Traumatic circumstances (eg.bereavement, addiction, illness) can disrupt the family functioning. This can result in distance being created between family members; it is my role to help families function better at home and improve communication.
Family wounds can run deep but I promise to hold hope for whatever relationship you bring before me. I am very passionate about seeing relationships restored. I have had the immense privilege of witnessing closeness and warmth return to families through systemic work. I use various methods of intervention tailored to the presenting family needs.
