Welcome. My name is Terina. Therapy is a bit like a walk through a forest that we agree to go on together. We don't yet know what the experience will be like, where it will take us or what might come up and we can't determine the outcome - it is new and unknown for both of us. The difference between us (therapist and client) is that I have walked similar paths before so I am able to recognise the challenge and your courage in taking the first step. The important thing is, we do this walk together. I can offer you my support, empathy and honesty and the space to explore anything that matters to you, without judgement.
I help by listening and engaging with you in a 'real' way. I encourage you to be as open and honest as you can and provide a safe, comfortable space to support you. The therapeutic process offers the opportunity to grow awareness of how we relate to others and our selves, enabling us to make more effective choices and to live the lives we want to live.
If you are struggling at the moment it may seem hard to feel ok about it - but it really is ok, because although it is uncomfortable and often painful we all experience distress in our lives. Talking about this may be challenging, it may bring some relief, it may feel exposing, it may feel connecting, you may cry, you may laugh - it really is all welcome!
