I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the British Psychological Society (BPS). I offer skilled, compassionate, evidence-based support to people who find themselves in distress or at a point in their lives when they would like to speak to a trained professional. Whilst I specialise in approaches that are interested in how our early experiences can shape and influence how we relate to ourselves and others, I draw on my knowledge and skills from different psychological therapies in an integrative way to ensure I tailor sessions to suit your needs.

Perhaps you are looking for some help with issues of anxiety or depression, which are affecting your day to day life. You might be feeling a bit hopeless, tired and are looking for change. Do you ask yourself: 'is this all there is?' Are you feeling a sense of loss of who you used to be or would like to be and are curious to see if therapy could help? Loss can be central to many of our issues. Loss of identity or from an actual bereavement or loss of purpose in life. Is there a voice inside stopping you from living a fulfilling life and you want to talk to someone, without feeling judged, to help you make sense of your life.

Life can throw us off course, from time to time we can all feel overwhelmed, confused, stuck, frightened or alone. Counselling gives the opportunity to talk through feelings, thoughts and worries in a safe, non-judgmental space. It is not always easy to talk to our family and friends, the therapeutic relationship offers a confidential and consistent space to share and work through the problems we can find difficult to bring up with others.

I offer a calm, confidential space where you can take time to attend to yourself - to make sense of what’s happening, your role in what is happening in your life and what you need next. Many of my clients are capable professionals who have already tried to solve things through insight or effort, yet still feel stuck. If you know what to do, intend to do the right thing, and somehow can’t follow through, our work can help uncover why and shift what lies underneath. Together we look at both your inner patterns, the emotional and relational habits that shape you, and how you feel and relate to others.

I work with adults and young people (16+) whose sense of self, emotional balance, or relationships have been shaped by difficult or traumatic relational experiences. This may include the effects of emotionally harmful relationships, including those involving narcissistic patterns. Many clients come seeking understanding, stability, and a way to move forward. Often, confusion about what happened, unhelpful beliefs, and unprocessed memories stand in the way of clarity, peace, and self-compassion. I support clients in understanding these obstacles so that greater clarity and lightness can emerge.

Hello. I’m a compassionate therapist who helps you learn and apply different techniques to move forwards in life, unburdened. My approach is to deeply understand what causes disturbances and set an inspiring goal to enable and empower you to become unstuck and heal. We work to build: - tools to better manage any unhelpful thoughts and beliefs about yourself - awareness of what triggers you and how to respond in a healthy way, not react in an unhealthy way - ways to feel calm and in the moment - a helpful inner voice, whist dampening the inner critic's voice - self-confidence, self-belief and resilience.

Many of the people I work with feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how things reached this point. They might be dealing with anxiety, low mood, overthinking, or feeling under constant pressure from studies, work or life in general. Some are also navigating more complex experiences such as trauma or difficult relationships. I help by creating a calm space where we can make sense of what is going on and find practical ways to move forward.

Are you someone who looks like they’re coping on the outside, but inside things feel harder than they should. Anxiety, past experiences, or self-doubt can quietly shape how you think, feel, and respond, even when you’re trying your best to move forward. I offer a space where we can slow things down and make sense of what’s happening, without judgement or pressure. From there, we begin to work through it. Using approaches such as CBT, EMDR & counselling, the aim isn’t just to talk, but to help you experience change in how you feel, think, and respond so life begins to feel more manageable and more like your own again.

I don't believe that there is one method of psychotherapy that suits everyone. I believe in adapting my way of working for each client I meet. You may feel that you want to work short-term on a specific aspect of your life. You may feel that you want to take time to look back on your early life experiences or you may not know where to start or where you are going. Whatever your situation is, I will do my best to see the world as you do and, where possible, offer you an alternative perspective. I believe the same is true for children and using sand tray and art materials I allow children to process their emotions through play.

You're coping on the surface, but something doesn’t feel quite right underneath. You may feel stuck, burnt out, or caught in patterns you can’t fully explain. It may not feel like a crisis so much as a sense of going through the motions. I offer psychodynamic psychotherapy for adults who are appearing outwardly coping while struggling beneath the surface.

These are difficult times and if you need help, I am here. Maybe it's anxiety, depression, family issues, a relationship problem, a loss or a bereavement. Sharing it and being heard without judgement, can really help. As a problem-solving counsellor I will work with you to find a better way forward. I help clients make sense of their relationships and the struggles they have had so far. Many of my clients are going though the major life events, significant birthdays, work troubles, coping with elderly parents and they are wondering, how did I get here? Why am I feeling this way? What does my future hold?

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are members of the main professional associations, mainly the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). Most Psychologists in the directory are accredited members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and/or are registered in the Health and Care Professions Council (HPCP).

Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given that professional memberships are not a statutory requirement for psychotherapists and counsellors in the UK, certain qualified professionals or organisations may choose not to maintain such memberships despite possessing the necessary qualifications. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and experience that enable them to do so in the UK. Psychologists have earned a degree in psychology and many are members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and have completed a postgraduate qualification in a specialism. Counsellors and Psychotherapists are not required to have a psychology degree, but to belong to a professional organisation such as the BACP or UKCP, they are required to have completed a training course as well as clinical and supervision hours.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the UK could be between £30 - £60 when seeing a counsellor and £60 - £150 and up when seeing a clinical psychologist. If you have private insurance, your plan may cover some if not all of your sessions. You should contact your insurance provider to determine if they provide coverage for therapy sessions and to determine what, if any, requirements they might have in order for your sessions to be covered, such as a referral from your GP or medical specialist.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. The NHS Talking therapies programme offers free of charge counselling for common mental health problems like anxiety and depression. The service is available to anyone registered with a GP, though you do not necessarily need to be referred by your GP and can refer yourself directly to a Talking therapies service. The service will provide different solutions, including group and individual therapy, for a limited number of sessions which are generally up to six.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Therapists who are part of a professional organisation such as the BACP, the UKCP, or BPS are bound by an ethical framework that requires them to uphold a confidentiality agreement. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there has been participation in a criminal act or act of terror, or if there is potential or known harm to the client or others, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
