Counselling in SW1W
Hello, my name is Paul, and I help clients navigate personal and professional challenges. Before becoming a psychotherapist, I worked 20+ years in finance and business development, which helps me understand the demands of high-performance corporate environments. When our life, relationships or jobs don’t go as we want, it may lead to stress, feeling down, depression, or burnout. Together, we can build awareness of what’s going on beneath the surface and how it affects you. Awareness gives you more control over how you respond and relate. So you feel better equipped to deal with challenges, both now and in the future.

The past leaves its footprints in the future. It can keep affecting us, making it hard to be happy, especially when life throws up challenges. Sometimes it helps to have someone working alongside you, helping you find your path. I know starting therapy can be daunting, so I use an integrated approach to create a safe and supportive environment where you will feel empowered to explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. Together we will unpick patterns that no longer serve you, helping you build a more positive future.

People can get trapped between two painful positions: feeling powerless to change, or blaming themselves for not changing. Or both. And both create suffering. Something in life may no longer be working. You may feel stuck in patterns you can’t shift - anxiety, shame, low mood, compulsive habits, relationship difficulties or a sense of lost purpose. On the outside you may or may not seem to be coping, but inside you know you are not.

I work with a wide range of clients, those who are “wearing a mask”, facing adversity, struggling with past trauma, loss of agency, identity, or self-destructive patterns. They feel disconnected, reactive, and uncertain about their future. They need a structured approach to rebuild trust in themselves, regain control, and find meaning in navigating their suffering. Their goal is growth, not just recovery. They want clarity, resilience, and a sense of purpose because they refuse to be defined by their past. My therapy focuses on reintegrating the divided self, fostering agency, and helping clients transform pain into strength.

What brings people to psychotherapy is as varied and individual as the people who come. Some have specific concerns, such as anxiety, depression or low mood. Others are navigating significant life events, for example, parenthood, bereavement, illness, caring responsibilities, or divorce. Some want to understand themselves better and find a meaningful narrative for their lives and relationships. Others have noticed repetitions or patterns in their relationships with others, and perhaps with themselves. For some, the reasons for coming are not yet clear, but there is a sense that something warrants exploration or attention.

Do you feel like you're stuck? Maybe life looks manageable from the outside but something underneath doesn't feel quite right. Or perhaps you know exactly what's going on, and you just haven't had the right space to say it out loud: a complicated relationship with body image or food, experiencing anxiety or difficult dynamics at work and at home, or something from your past that still weighs on you. Whether you want to start with only a few sessions or are in it for the long haul, my goal is to help you feel empowered in your daily life.

My approach is to invite you to talk about yourself, about your relationships present and past, about experiences that may have shaped your ways of being with others and dealing with frustrations and disappointments, about what gives you pleasure and makes life worthwhile. Together we will begin to see why things affect you as they do, how pressures build up and become unmanageable, and how a life without these difficulties might look.

You might look like you’re doing fine — you keep things together, show up for others, and push through. But inside, something feels off. Maybe you feel stuck, restless, or disconnected from yourself, unsure what’s next or why you can’t quite feel at ease.
Therapy with me is a space to slow down and reconnect with what’s really going on beneath the surface. We’ll explore your thoughts, emotions, and the way your body holds tension and patterns from the past — not to stay there, but to help you release what no longer serves you and create space for something new.
