Many of my clients talk about how counselling allows them to discuss things with someone who is not directly affected, and who will offer a safe place in which to do it. It can provide people the chance to really reflect on how they, themselves are feeling, away from the life and expectations that they experience with others around them. My role as Counsellor is to offer you a non-judgemental and empathic space, making it safe for you to talk about and explore your feelings. I am not going to take you to places that you do not want to go. I will, however, sometimes tentatively explore what lies beneath, as this is often how we get to know and accept ourselves the most.
