My counselling approach is collaborative, which can help individuals with a wide range of issues such as, anxiety, depression, trauma, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, lack of confidence and other related conditons.
Counselling provides a confidential and safe space to talk about anything that may be worrying you. It can often help you to understand more about the difficult or troubling thoughts that can be a common experience at any time in our lives. My aim is to listen attentively, in confidence, and to be non-judgemental. I offer personal support to enable my clients to explore their inner-selves and their feelings in order to help them to achieve personal growth.

Hi! My name is Natasha and I'm a qualified integrative counsellor since 2017 providing short and long term therapy to adults and young people (thirteen and older). Often, we're able to manage life and what comes our way. However, at times situations can feel overwhelming and impossible to face on your own. Maybe you're unable to share with friends and family what's burdening you for fear they won't understand or judge you. Or you're worried about your child and don't know how else to help them. I'm here to offer you phased support you or your child need with the goal to help you grow into a free and hopeful life ahead.

Hi! My name is Claudia (she/her). I'm a counsellor, therapist, mother, wife, daughter, dog lover, friend among many other roles! The challenges of having all these roles made me reflect on the importance of taking care of our mental health which led to my training in Gestalt Therapy. My profession is my passion and I feel privileged to help transform lives for the better. Many times, the way we deal with our problems and needs ends up keeping us stuck, generating more and more suffering like anxiety, depression and stress.

Throughout our life-time there will always come a time when we all struggle with issues. I believe that we always do the best we can when those issues arise, even though sometimes we haven’t yet develop the skills to deal with them in an effective and healthy way. I think that this is where counselling can help - I see my role as a provider of a safe non-judgemental place where learning, growth and change can happen. And everyone can do it, whether you are neurotypical or neurodivergent.

I offer you a safe place to explore your emotions and the issues that trouble you and will work with you to find solutions which will improve your life. Therapy with me is about preparing to make changes. I will help you release the thoughts that trouble you, your fears and despair and help you contain those most intense feelings so we can look deeper into the reasons why you are not functioning as you would like to. We can't always change the way those around us behave, but we can change our attitude to life and to others.

Suicidal Ideation Counsellors

How does therapy for suicidal ideation work?

Stress, depression, anxiety, or upsetting circumstances can give rise to suicidal thinking. Therapy can address the events at the core of an individual’s suffering. Understanding why a person may be suicidal can help the therapist and the patient discover alternative methods of coping. A person with suicidal ideation may be mired in catastrophic thinking, and treatment like cognitive behavioural therapy is a good choice for breaking such patterns. In addition, treatment such as acceptance and commitment therapy can help a person manage their distress through better emotion regulation.

Which therapies are best for suicidal ideation?

Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioural, dialectical behaviour, psychodynamic, acceptance and commitment therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioural and dialectical behaviour therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful thoughts and past traumas. These therapies help an individual tolerate distress, regulate emotions, and not act on dangerous urges.

Are there specific medications to be combined with therapy?

The use of medication for suicidal thoughts must be aligned with the underlying cause; conditions such as depression, anxiety, and psychosis may be at the root of suicidal ideation. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for symptoms, which may include antipsychotics such as aripiprazole or antidepressants such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.

How often and how long are therapy sessions for suicidal ideation?

As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, while others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. Still other patients, especially those with co-occurring conditions like major depression and anxiety, may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months. In some cases, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm.
