About
As a BACP accredited counsellor I have over 12 years experience of working with individuals with a variety of emotional difficulties. These include but are not limited to depression, anxiety, trauma, marital problems, low self esteem, existential anxieties and relationship difficulties. At the core of what I offer is building a trusting, non judgmental relationship so that you can feel safe enough to explore deeper feelings, and very importantly find your own, sustainable solutions or sometimes just find your way of managing and accepting certain difficulties. I also have many years experience of working with counselling students.
The foundation of my therapeutic approach is person centered, however I am also qualified in Counselling for Depression. Essentially I work in an emotionally foccused way to enable you to explore your feelings at a much deeper level, at your pace, and to gain a greater understanding of how your feelings impact your mood, your behaviours and relationships.
It's not always easy to face difficult or painful feelings, and to move on in more positive ways. Often we simply don't know where to start, or wonder 'how will therapy help?', sometimes we are hiding from the very feelings that are keeping us stuck, I aim to help people become more self aware - the start of real lasting change and moving forward.
