For over twenty years, I have worked with various forms of abuse, mainly presenting in relationships, such as physical, emotional and sexual abuse, and have supported individuals to work through experiences of trauma when it intersects with experiences of multiple disadvantages and complex mental health. I have extensive experience also working with anxiety, depression, bereavement and bereavement by suicide, as well as issues such as anger, sadness, shame and relationship issues.
As a trauma and mental health-informed counsellor, I understand that facing our experiences is hard and that it can feel too difficult to hold our painful stories too close to ourselves. In a space where qualities such as trust, genuineness, openness, support and challenge exist, we will work together to make sense of the experiences that are affecting you.
I work from a person-centred approach to counselling based on care, empathy, non-judgment, acceptance and a deep sense of regard for others, and with a focus on the capacity of human beings, to offer a relationship of such quality to each other that transformation can occur. Safety and deep respect are also a priority in honouring our growing relationship.
