Life can sometimes be difficult. There may be times when we find ourselves experiencing stress, anxiety, panic, or struggling with extremely low moods or bouts of depression. Maybe you find yourself struggling with life's difficulties, often feeling isolated and alone, believing that there isn't anyone you can turn to, including work colleagues, friends or family. Maybe past experience has taught you not to trust anyone with your feelings. Or maybe you find yourself believing that no one truly understands what you are going through.

I work purely as an Online Therapist for which I am fully qualified and trained to do. This has many benefits, not only as it doesn't mean travelling but we also have the options of working in different ways, such as video, email, audio or instant messaging. Sometimes it can reduce anxieties as you can be in a space that feels comfortable for you. I have a particular interest in working with MEN in therapy as I am aware how difficult it can be for a man to seek therapy and talk about their emotions and experiences. My aim is to provide that safe space in which all clients can explore their feelings and emotions.

If you are reading this you may be wishing for something in your life, family or relationship to be different. I too was looking for difference when I first began my Systemic Psychotherapy training. My name is Marianne Le Coyte Grinney and I am a Family and Systemic Psychotherapist: I believe 'the person is never the problem' and that people are best understood within systems, for example their family, work and social life. My therapeutic posture aims not to apportion blame, but to support individual and collective change within a safe and supportive environment. I do not hope to provide answers, but to facilitate change through

Hi, my name is Aneta. I am an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor, which means that I draw from various approaches, including Gestalt, Person Centred and Psychodynamic, putting the therapeutic relationship at the centre of my work. I have experience working therapeutically with people from all walks of life, but my two main areas of expertise are supporting people to process their trauma (both recent and historic) and working with clients from ethnically diverse communities. I facilitate culturally sensitive therapy with an understanding of issues related to diversity and identity.

A good Counselling relationship is built on the ability to grow an authentic and confidential space between client and therapist. It is a space where you can bring your difficulties, worries, anxieties, frustrations, feeling sad, family and relationship issues in this space you will experience a non-judgemental and empathic space to reflect on issues that have brought you to counselling. Counselling provides the client with this unique space that is often hard to find in life’s day to day relationships. However, it is not about giving advice or opinions it is about helping the client to find their own solutions.

I offer clients a service individual to whatever their needs may be. As an integrative counsellor, I offer a combined approach to counselling and psychotherapy, bringing together different elements from specific therapies. I understand that taking that initial step to phone or meet with a counsellor can be scary, however, I offer a compassionate and caring client-led talking therapy which ensures you can confidentially explore whatever issues you need to. Each client's goals are explored - ensuring there is an overall understanding of what is wanted from counselling.

Hello, my name is Tanya. As a counsellor- psychotherapist for over 25 years and a supervisor for 15, I continue to see how helpful counselling can be. I have immediate availability on Mondays and Tuesdays. Are you finding life tough, trying to deal with stress, anxiety, loss, feeling low or depressed or the impact of abuse and trauma? I am sorry you are having to struggle - life can get us down and sometimes the most courageous thing we can do is to seek some support. In our first session you can tell me what you are dealing with and see if it feels ok to work with me.

I hold the belief that you really can get to where you want to be and so as my client you really are front and centre to the process of counselling. I am here to tailor the help and support to your needs and offer a truly judgement free environment. I have experience in working with a wide range of issues and have also attended counselling myself so I have an idea of how difficult it can be to speak to a complete stranger about your issues, I don’t feel that there is any problem to big or small to work with and therefore will journey as deep and far as you would like to go.

That your issues aren’t as bad as someone else’s? Just feeling out of sorts and not sure why? Or are there life challenges to be worked through but not sure where to start? I offer you the time and space to work through whatever is troubling you and we do that at your pace.

How are you? That's a question that gets asked a lot but it's often more of a statement, a greeting than an actual question. Most people don't even stop for the response and if they do, they're often too busy thinking about what they want to say, rather than listening to what's being said. It's no wonder then that we often stop asking ourselves that question too. If you're ready to stop and answer that question, then I'm here to listen and to hear what you have to say. Even if right now, you don't have the words, or you just don't know what to say... we can start with the question and go from there.

How can I find a therapist in SN1?

Search for nearby therapists or counsellors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counsellors are all licensed mental health professionals. In many countries, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counsellor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counsellors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counsellor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counselling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
