Most people enter therapy with the entirely understandable aim of addressing and easing current symptoms of distress (depression, anxiety, difficulties sustaining intimate relationships etc) and receiving reassurance and comfort when life seems hard to bear. But I believe that we also need to explore deeper; that it is only by getting underneath these symptoms and trying to understand them and where they come from that real and lasting change can take place. I see the relationship between client and therapist as central and the process as a collaborative journey undertaken by us both.
I am an experienced, BPC-registered psychodynamic psychotherapist based in Lewes and I work full-time seeing adult individuals. Psychotherapy can be challenging, requiring a commitment to face up to and work through difficult feelings. But it can also be enormously rewarding as you come gradually to self-understanding.
