I am Dr Liz Pennington, Consultant Clinical Psychologist. I work with adults and young people (13+) across a broad range of mental health difficulties including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, adjustment to life events and PTSD (including Complex PTSD). I spent over 15 years in the NHS working with severe and enduring mental health difficulties, as well as within a specialist trauma service.
I have a particular interest in therapeutic work with survivors of childhood trauma, sexual trauma, and intimate partner violence. I also work with young people who have experienced a traumatic start to life.
I offer Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) which is often used in trauma work, but applicable to many other issues. I also work relationally using Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), which helps individuals break free from painful patterns in their relationships, allowing for new ways of being to be explored, as well as personal growth.
Making the decision to come for therapy can feel daunting, and the therapy process can be hard work and challenging. My job is to be a reliable companion on this this journey.
