Do you sometimes feel like you are existing rather than living?
This feeling can be related to low self-esteem, resulting in anxiety, depression, or suppression with coping behaviours. A lot of the time you can feel disconnected from those around you, that you are "just playing a part", and that if you weren't there, it would make no difference to the world around you.
I work to change this, to recognise that you add value to your world.
I look to your past to find meaning in your present. Childhood experiences can affect how we connect to people, and engage with the world around us. By exploring the past, we re-shape the future.
Sessions with me are guided by you, and as such can vary from intense to light-hearted. I enjoy exploring metaphors and creative outlets, and this can add a playful element to some sessions. Equally, I appreciate the weight of some experiences and bear this with you, grieving what could have been. I pick up whatever you bring, making me an active counsellor.
I am warm and nurturing and want you to feel safe and heard. Your experiences are important and "others had it worse" is not something that is relevant to me. I want to get to know you, and in doing so to help you better know yourself. In this way you can develop a sense of identity, your self esteem grows, and you can feel empowered to engage in your life.
