We are all living through a unique time which may be impacting our relationships with others and ourselves. There can be losses, reevaluations and changes to adapt to. Our individual histories may also be influencing how we cope in the here and now. For some, simply the present time can be the challenge. My training and experience can allow a space for you to explore what may otherwise be difficult to process on your own.

Life changes! Understanding the next step or how to proceed, initially can be one of the most difficult. Not knowing where to turn, what to do or even if tomorrow is going to happen! And if it does, how am I going to cope? This may be mental health, relationship challenges or breakdown, anxiety, depression, a life changing event, health or loss. At Being Yew, I offer a confidential space where you can speak openly, knowing that you are heard and understood for what you are experiencing. Together, you can choose how you respond and enable yourself to be how you want to be and take ownership.

As your counsellor I will engage with you as a whole person not a set of symptoms. Perhaps you have had a bereavement? Or you're low in mood, anxious, having difficulties in relationships, problems at work or you're at a transition in life and finding it hard to make decisions. You may be feeling empty; surrounded by people but lonely. You would like to talk about how you feel but worry about burdening the people close to you.

You might be seeking counselling because you are suffering from depression or anxiety, or you’re feeling stuck and frustrated. Or perhaps you have experienced a painful life event, such as the breakup of a relationship or loss of a job. It can be very confusing and frightening to go through these crises, making us aware of our vulnerabilities and often leaving us feeling lonely in our plight. These crucial periods are where change is inevitable; by considering counselling, you may start developing awareness and the process of healing, allowing yourself the possibility of something new to emerge.

Finding your CBT therapist can be a daunting task, but knowing if they have the correct credentials is harder. Efficacy ensures people get better. As the Director of Clinical and Business Operations of Efficacy's national team of BABCP accredited cognitive behavioural therapists (the CBT gold standard in the UK), I ensure that everyone is getting evidence-based therapy which optimises their recovery. All our team of CBT therapists are mental health professionals with an additional CBT Post-Graduate qualification. Accredited as a BABCP practitioner I understand how to help people achieve their therapy goals and move forward.

Psychotherapy is about how you think. It is about how you live with your emotions. It is about the perspectives you bring to relating with the people who matter to you. It is about what you aspire to in your life and how you may unwittingly make it harder for yourself to reach those goals. It is about being helped to see that the change you seek is already within you. It is coming to recognise and appreciate the spark of something eternal that is your core.

Counselling offers a unique opportunity to freely express your thoughts and feelings in a safe, non-judgemental space, which is confidential - this in itself is of value in a hectic lifestyle. I can help with General Anxiety disorder, self esteem, confidence, depression, relationship issues, self harm, or just feeling uncomfortable in yourself. I can help you to acknowledge and value yourself, feel that you are not alone, and support you in finding a way through a difficult time. The experience I have from working with my clients helps inform my therapeutic approach.

I can help you, if you feel anxious, empty or sad; if you have relationship issues with parents or partners, never feel really heard, are a 'people pleaser' or say 'yes' even when you are overwhelmed. If this is you, then we can work together to help you feel better in yourself and in your relationships, feel less stressed and more able to cope. Through looking at our past we can often discover where some of these things come from, you can start to understand your feelings, make sense of your responses and manage the emotions that they bring. You can start to live a more positive and fulfilling life with better relationships.

Self-Harming (Cutting) Counsellors
Self-harm (SH) or deliberate self-harm (DSH) is the deliberate infliction of damage to your own body. It includes cutting, burning, scratching, banging or hitting yourself, interfering with wound healing, and the ingestion of toxic substances or objects. While self injury (SI) can look like suicide, it's not; most people who mutilate themselves do it as a way to regulate mood. People who hurt themselves in this way may be motivated by a need to distract themselves from inner turmoil, or to quickly release anxiety that builds due to an inability to express intense emotions.

If you're looking for help with self-harming in GL3 or for someone who self harms, or cuts themselves, or bangs or hits themselves, these GL3 counsellors provide counselling for self harming in GL3. They include counsellors, who understand self harming in GL3, psychologists and therapists. They can provide self harming counselling in GL3 or treatment for self harming.

How can I tell if a counsellor is right for me?
Counsellors and therapists in GL3 are able to work with a wide range of issues.

For example, you can find CBT Therapists in GL3 who focus on a specific issue, as well as DBT Therapists in GL3 who help clients with new skills to manage their emotions and relationships.
