I specialise in and run an outdoor therapy service around Hythe, Kent. My working model is a synthesis of existential and eco-based ways of working, in which I tend to focus on your choices, your possibilities (and sometimes the impossibilities), the tensions that you experience, and the anxiety that arises from those tensions.

I strive to be an approachable, warm and accepting counsellor who can offer you a confidential, safe and non-judgemental space to talk about whatever it is that is troubling you. I work Integratively, but underlying my theoretical approach is a belief in autonomy and the tendency towards growth and the possibility of change. These are the hallmarks of the humanistic tradition, and whilst I occasionally draw from behavioural approaches, I do so from a philosophically person centered standpoint. Essentially, I can help facilitate positive change, often in as few as six sessions only, through using a Solution Focused approach.

Life not turned out how you had expected or hoped? Something not sitting right? A niggling thought or unrest within you? Happiness feels out of reach? Having experienced my own, at times, bumpy journey it has given me a fierce and unshakeable belief that change is possible in us all and we all have the potential to have a life beyond our wildest dreams! That’s not always to say we get what we may have fantasised about but that we work on ourselves; and as we embark on this our dreams change and they become reachable as we become more teachable and learn about the authentic us and what we really want.

Thanks for stopping by. I am an integrative counsellor, accredited by the the BACP. Specializing in trauma, anxiety (including OCD + PTSD), depression and bereavement. I am approachable, enthusiastic and passionate about what I do, and possess the essential attributes needed when counselling. I form bonds with both individual and couples easily and I help people help themselves move forward in their lives on a regular basis. I do not stick to one specific counselling method, as in my experience therapy needs to be two way, it is best if somehow we can meet in the middle, and this is something we will negotiate on our journey.

Whether you're feeling sad, suffering with anxiety, feeling desperate or finding life meaningless, I’m here to help. Most of us feel emotionally challenged at times but it can become overwhelming if we bottle up our feelings which can leave us feeling isolated. I'm impassioned by Psychotherapy and the reason I am is because I know first hand that it has the capacity to transform lives. I'm particularly focused on helping people who feel lacking in confidence and I'm committed to helping those people connect more deeply with their needs and goals.

Are you are looking for a safe and confidential space to express and explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences in a non judgemental environment? You may have unresolved issues or perhaps finding situations difficult to manage at the moment. Together we can consider how this is impacting your life, perhaps look into patterns and processes that bought you to this place, which are helpful and any that you may like to change. Counselling gives the time to reflect about what is important to you. My role is to listen and be with you during a challenging time and support you to gain a deeper understanding of yourself.

Clients access therapy for a multitude of reasons; there may be difficulties at work, challenges in a relationship or a client may have been abused spanning a number of years. My hope with therapy is to explore the roots of issues, to rediscover our innate resilience, to build self-esteem and to help you meet your goals, your hopes, your wishes. Many people access therapy because they want to feel different, to change the emotions they are experiencing, or for others it may be learning to access those feelings that have perhaps been locked away through trauma.

We all experience difficult times in our lives, whether it be the break up of a relationship and the shock of our family unit falling apart, loss of a loved one, or part of life’s natural cycle of events, like our children flying the nest. These are all periods of transition and being able to talk to someone who is non-judgemental, warm and compassionate can help us make sense of what's happening and process our feelings. Sometimes we do not know why we feel sad or angry, anxious or depressed so together we can unravel things and look at how we can increase our resilience by resourcing ourselves having coping strategies.

"And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom." This is a quote by Anaïs Nin, one in which I firmly believe. It is always helpful to talk to someone, especially when that someone is trained to listen and help in a specialised and interactive way. A counsellor is not there to judge you, nor are they there to tell you what to do. Instead, counselling provides a safe and respectful environment to express and explore your feelings and troubles. Together, we can create a path of acceptance and work together to heal and change.

Life can be challenging and it can be difficult to make sense of what is happening to you or around you. Periods of doubt or stress may leave you feeling confused, depressed, anxious or isolated. You may be worried about a present day situation or recognise that a past experience is still causing difficulties. You may be questioning your beliefs or feel that life could be more fulfilling. Even a change that some might deem as positive such as marriage, having a baby or retirement may be causing you difficulties. You may not even know why you feel counselling is needed...but simply know you would like something to change.

Worry, stress and anxiety seem to be common ailments amongst children and adults due to the fast pace and high demands that life places on us, from the expectancy of high exam results to negotiating the right job for you, whilst maintaining a balance between work and home. Add this to difficult relationships, loss, bereavement and trauma, and things begin to feel as though they are spiralling out of control, leading to anxiety attacks, demotivation and depression. Doctors may prescribe tablets but these can sometimes exacerbate how out of control we feel. Stop and take stock of what you would like to feel and be in life.
