It can be daunting to approach a therapist about personal problems in your relationships or the fact that you aren't in one or find it hard to sustain one. Speaking about your concerns with an experienced and empathetic listener can disempower the anxiety so the work of recovery can begin. I specialise in relationship and sexual problems and have enjoyed working in the NHS and privately over many years. I work with communication problems, disability, chronic illness, cultural and religious differences, infertility, depression, bereavement, sexual dysfunction, perimenopause among many other concerns that affect relationships.
I work with couples and individuals. I use techniques to improve communication and listening skills and support clients to express their emotional and sexual needs/concerns and learn to set appropriate boundries. It is strictly a talking therapy but I may set exercises to support the work for clients to do in the privacy of their own homes.
The most important thing agreed by therapists across all modalities is the relationship between client and therapist. The client needs to feel safe, trusted, listened to and heard. I offer an empathetic and non judgemental approach to therapy suggesting alternative ways to think about problems and solutions, questioning assumptions and perceptions.
