I am a clinical psychologist who specialises in individual psychotherapy. I welcome meeting with adults who are looking to attend therapy for mental health treatment or simply for personal reflection. You might be struggling with general feelings of unhappiness or feel caught in self-defeating patterns of behaviour; I would want to meet with you to better understand why this is. I have worked for over 8 years in complex mental health settings in the NHS, meaning I have experience of treating a variety of mental health diagnoses. As a clinical psychologist, I have been trained to understand and treat established mental health diagnoses such as depression and generalised anxiety disorder. My training in psychodynamic psychotherapy means that I will normally do so by inviting you to reflect on and give expression to the painful emotions that often underlie these conditions.
I believe a person's mental health is rooted in their experience of self and other, an experience uniquely shaped by each person's history. To properly understand what you are struggling with I think it necessary to think about your experiences throughout your life, and I would invite you to meet with me for that purpose.
