If you carry loss, trauma, or struggle and are looking for deeper understanding rather than quick fixes, psychodynamic therapy provides a space for connection and self-acceptance. Rather than treating the symptoms of depression, anxiety, ocd or eating-disorders, therapy will support you to connect to yourself in new ways. Daring to be grounded in your emotional life, also opens up avenues for growth through loss, questions around identity, loss of purpose and major life transitions.

You may be feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or caught in patterns that don’t make sense anymore. Many of the people I support describe carrying too much, feeling responsible for everyone else, or losing touch with their own needs. You might want clarity, steadiness, or simply somewhere you can say things out loud. You don’t need to have everything worked out. Therapy gives you space to explore what’s happening and make sense of what you need next. We take it step by step, at a pace that feels safe for you.

Psychotherapy may be a wonderful way of not only helping you with your struggles but also increasing your sense of freedom. As a therapist and another human being,I believe in your strengths that I highly promote;being holistic, person-centred but also pretty dynamic to address your issues on social, psychological, biological, physical, cultural and spiritual levels is the most important part of this journey and it is my objective. Ethics and truth are the values I've carried in my soul and spirit since I started practicing in 2011. My work is supervised and strictly adheres to the International Heilkunst Association code of ethics.

Do you feel like you’re always holding it together for everyone else, but no one’s really there for you? You might be feeling burned out, stuck, or overwhelmed — whether from a lifetime of putting yourself last, coping with a major loss, or carrying unspoken grief. Perhaps you grew up in a family where emotions were ignored or tightly controlled, making it hard now to speak up for yourself, trust your feelings, or ask for help. I help adults who feel unseen, unheard, or emotionally worn down to reconnect with their inner voice and reclaim a sense of self-worth.

I work with adults from all walks of life both online and in-person. I have particular experience working with 3 groups: 1) Students and academics are a group I know well due to my own extensive academic background; 2) Professionals seeking help with personal or career challenges and 3) LGBTQ+ clients who want a safe, affirming space where they can speak freely and feel understood. With all my clients, I work in an integrative/pluralistic way to ensure that the therapy is tailored to them as an individual. I emphasise understanding before solutions, as that leads to deeper, lasting change.

Your decision to do undertake therapy is significant; it marks a moment where you have decided you and your life need to be different, and you are willing to do the work of changing. Whether you have come to this work because things have gone awry in the present, you've always had parts of yourself you wished to change, or because you've realised you need to grow to achieve your goals in the future, I want to offer my presence, space, and care to you. Whatever challenge you are struggling with, I am here to facilitate your process of growth, and to discover with you who you are - and help you become who you want to be.

Sometimes we experience changes or traumas that leave us struggling with the pressures of life, relationships, work, or studies. This can affect our self-esteem, our sense of identity, and our ability to cope. This can become overwhelming and may lead us to unhelpful or harmful thoughts and behaviours. With help, we can overcome our difficulties and learn to manage our emotions more effectively. With compassion, empathy, respect, and a safe space, we feel heard, considered, and valued. By understanding our thoughts and behaviours we can feel empowered to make positive changes that can lead us to fuller and more enjoyable lives.

Gestalt therapy is a psychotherapeutic approach to transformation through connecting to your senses and your embodied experience. Working at depth in this way supports you to understand yourself and others better. It sheds light on new ways forward beyond old patterns. Experiences like anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, struggles with relationships or difficulties at work can feel like blocks to living the life you want. Facing into such challenging emotions or difficult situations and finding a new way through can be fruitful and is usually much easier when you do it with support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are members of the main professional associations, mainly the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). Most Psychologists in the directory are accredited members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and/or are registered in the Health and Care Professions Council (HPCP).

Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given that professional memberships are not a statutory requirement for psychotherapists and counsellors in the UK, certain qualified professionals or organisations may choose not to maintain such memberships despite possessing the necessary qualifications. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and experience that enable them to do so in the UK. Psychologists have earned a degree in psychology and many are members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and have completed a postgraduate qualification in a specialism. Counsellors and Psychotherapists are not required to have a psychology degree, but to belong to a professional organisation such as the BACP or UKCP, they are required to have completed a training course as well as clinical and supervision hours.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the UK could be between £30 - £60 when seeing a counsellor and £60 - £150 and up when seeing a clinical psychologist. If you have private insurance, your plan may cover some if not all of your sessions. You should contact your insurance provider to determine if they provide coverage for therapy sessions and to determine what, if any, requirements they might have in order for your sessions to be covered, such as a referral from your GP or medical specialist.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. The NHS Talking therapies programme offers free of charge counselling for common mental health problems like anxiety and depression. The service is available to anyone registered with a GP, though you do not necessarily need to be referred by your GP and can refer yourself directly to a Talking therapies service. The service will provide different solutions, including group and individual therapy, for a limited number of sessions which are generally up to six.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Therapists who are part of a professional organisation such as the BACP, the UKCP, or BPS are bound by an ethical framework that requires them to uphold a confidentiality agreement. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there has been participation in a criminal act or act of terror, or if there is potential or known harm to the client or others, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
