In Person Counselling in Newton Mearns

Peter Knapp
Counsellor, BACP
I began professional life as a teacher, but most of my career was working in the addictions sector in centres across the UK. As a counsellor I feel I still retain aspects of my first training as a teacher. Perhaps it is from this imprint, but I always want people to succeed. I feel my role has always been to help facilitate the changes needed for my clients to achieve their desired goals. I know I have brought the same patience and understanding to every situation I am involved in, whether that has been in a classroom, a drug treatment centre, or a private counselling session.

A consultation session, face-to-face, is the best way to get started.
The idea of my approach is an integrative one: I've studied, and I'm qualified to deliver, a mixed modality of therapies to address client issues. From psychodynamic active listening and using a safe space to get things out in the open, or perhaps using CBT techniques to address something specific, either way - I'm equipped to help guide you through what it is that is troubling you, or holding you back, from moving forward.

My name is Craig and I'm a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist from South Lanarkshire with offices in Motherwell and Glasgow. If you give me the opportunity I'd like us to work together to provide the help you need, to uncover why you are feeling the way you are and then to find the solutions that you can use going forward in your everyday life. Taking the first step in therapy is never easy but just by reading this today you have taken that step. I understand the thought of calling someone new is daunting so if you would prefer then you could email to make first contact.

As well as Zoom and some face-to-face sessions, I'm open to finding creative ways to work together, including outdoor sessions.
I have a particular interest in working with people with relationship problems, including their relationship with their self and, with their own emotions and emotional regulation. This can manifest as social anxiety, with an underlying sense of not being good enough or being odd/not fitting in with other people and society’s expectations. If you struggle with your own identity - not knowing your own likes/dislikes/values (sometimes called codependency), then get in touch. We can explore together what gets in the way of you knowing (and accepting) the real you.

I offer therapy sessions in person My availability is flexible, please get in touch and we can sort out a time which suits us both
Hello and Welcome! Does your mind feel like it never switches off? Maybe you’re caught in constant chatter in your head, replaying conversations, worrying about what other people think, or stuck in endless “what ifs.” You might overthink every interaction and feel exhausted from trying to hold it all together. You’re not alone — and things can change. For a long time, I believed strong people just got on with it. Now I know that real strength comes from being vulnerable, slowing down, and getting to know yourself. Therapy can help you to understand yourself more deeply and to quiet the noise

Hello, I'm Victoria. Whatever is troubling you, I am here to listen. My aim is to support you in exploring your concerns and emotions so that you can gain a better sense of self awareness and acceptance, leading to increased empowerment and satisfaction with your life. You'll hear counsellors mention 'a safe space' - that's really about the relationship that we build together, and how it differs from talking to a friend or family member who may have their own feelings and judgements around the issues that are concerning you.

I am now seeing clients either in person or online according to client preference and/or location.
I have trained and practise as a person centred counsellor because I believe everyone has the potential to reach inside and find their own strength and resources, with a little help . There are times in all of our lives when we feel we need some extra help to cope with life events and struggles. I would like to help you through whatever it is that brings you here. Whether it is work, life events, or you're not sure what is wrong but feel something is not right, it can help to share your feelings with that impartial, non-judgemental someone, allowing you to clarify your own thoughts and helping you to see a way through.

I offer online therapy across the UK and in-person sessions in Glasgow.
You might be someone who looks like they’re coping—holding things together, supporting others—but inside, you feel anxious, shut down, or stuck in patterns that don’t make sense. You may have a history of childhood abuse, neglect, or sexual trauma, or just a sense that something from the past is still shaping how you feel now. You might struggle with trust, boundaries, or feeling safe in your own body. You want space to understand what’s going on, to feel less overwhelmed or numb, and to start making sense of what you’ve been through. You want to feel more connected to yourself and others—not fixed, but more whole.

Myself and my team will continue to work with you, remotely, via video calls or by telephone in addition to some face to face session.
With 20 years' experience, I am a leading authority in marriage, couple and relationship counselling. I have had the pleasure and privilege of helping countless couples resolve their differences and re-establish an emotional connection. I am passionate about my work and the changes I help to facilitate. When you’re having a relationship or marital problems, it’s natural to want to talk about it. Unfortunately, turning to those around you isn’t always possible or the best option. What you really need is an independent ear — someone who can view your relationship without bias and who won’t take sides.

My initial training is in Person Centered counselling however I also have a keen interest in PolyVagal theory and the impact of trauma on the nervous system, and incorporate this into my practice.
Hi! I'm Mary, a therapist seeing clients from my home office in Stewarton and online. I work with a broad range of issues, including depression, anxiety, and low self esteem. I have a special interest in working with people who have relationship or family issues who might struggle to feel safe with others, establish boundaries, connection or trust. I believe most of our difficulties have their roots in our early family dynamics and what we learn in our family of origin. I am very interested in exploring how these patterns shape our relationships with others over time, repeating across families and even generations.
