As a Cognitive Behavioural, Group-work and Couples Therapist I offer a compassionate evidence based approach that focuses on identifying and challenging unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours.
Taking the step to begin therapy is a courageous decision and finding the right therapist is a vital part of that process. This work is personal for me. I know what it means to feel lost and I also know it’s possible to find your way forward. It’s what led me to discover the tools that built my resilience and it’s what fuels my commitment to helping others do the same. My goal is to walk alongside you as you navigate your own challenges and discover the strategies that can help you live more freely and fully.

I offer both couples counselling and individual counselling and as an integrative therapist I draw on different therapeutic approaches and tailor them to you, because no two people's needs, past experiences or hopes are the same.
Relationships can bring us connection, joy and love but they can also bring pain, misunderstanding and frustration. Couples counselling provides a supportive, neutral space for both partners to express themselves openly, explore patterns of communication and reconnect with each other. We look at navigating conflict and rebuilding trust and intimacy.

Life can be difficult at times and you might be feeling stuck. You might be anxious, depressed, or struggling with self-esteem and longing to find a way to change. Things happening around you, big life changes, challenges, and trauma experienced in the past, or current relationship difficulties can add up to a quagmire that is tricky to make sense of alone. Together we can start to tease out the specific issues going on for you. The work I do looks to understand unhelpful thinking and behavioural patterns developed in the past and how they impact you in the here and now.

Ideally, you’ll feel open to hearing what psychology can do for you. You’ll feel able to speak about what life’s like for you and where you want to get to. I won’t ask you to disclose all that’s happened to you but I’ll be able to hear what you feel ready to share. As well as trying to fix things, we’ll look to see your positives and build on them. Your instincts will tell you if I’m the right person for you and whether you feel ready to embark upon a change process.

I work with couples who care about each other but feel stuck in repeating patterns—arguments that go nowhere, growing distance, or a sense of being misunderstood.
I work with couples feeling stuck in disconnection but wanting a more honest, connected relationship. We slow things down to understand patterns, improve communication, and rebuild trust. I help you shift what keeps you stuck and support new ways of relating, sometimes gently challenging and coaching you both to engage and support each other differently.

Marriage Counselling
How does marriage counseling work?
Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.

How long does marriage counseling typically last?
Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.

Is marriage counseling effective?
Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.

Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?
Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
