There are many reasons to seek counselling - you may be feeling lost, confused or overwhelmed by situations in your life which feel unresolvable. You may be struggling with past experiences and traumas which are still shaping who you are in the present. You may be finding your life unsatisfactory but unable to see the way forward or you may long for a deeper understanding of yourself; your thoughts, feelings and behaviour. There are times in life when our usual ways of resolving issues no longer seem sufficient, appropriate or just don't work, leaving us feeling we are facing the world alone - counselling can help.

I don’t work exclusively with clients who are neurodivergent (ND), but I do have a special interest and experience of supporting ND humans and how their lives can be impacted, whether that's with studies, work, family, relationships. I am diagnosed ADHD and have worked with ND teens, adults, and their families for many years. I offer an empathic ear, and a safe space to explore whatever is happening for you. I run psycho-educational workshops on ADHD, can offer strategies and help with symptoms, managing anxiety, overwhelm, and getting your life back on track. Give me a call and we can have a chat and see where I can support you.

As a COSCA Accredited person-centred counsellor I provide a place of safety and confidentiality where you can discuss openly what is troubling you, a place where you’ll be listened to. It may be that you are stressed, angry, frustrated, anxious, depressed, feeling lost or simply stuck, not sure what to do or how to express how you feel. Maybe you have suffered a loss or a bereavement and need help to find your way of moving on. I will be accepting and non-judgemental of what you have to say and work with you to help you find your answer.

Do you pretend to function well on the outside but feel down, unmotivated and lack confidence on the inside? Are you no longer enjoying the things you once did, not quite sure what is going on for you but know something does not feel right? Feeling anxious, experiencing difficulties with relationships or finding it hard to deal with a bereavement or a loss of some sort? These issues and many others can throw us off course in life, momentarily losing ourselves. Or maybe more simply, there is a curiosity and desire to get to know yourself better.

I have over 30 years experience in supporting people with ADHD and High Functioning Autism. I share techniques to improve executive functioning, help set goals, prioritize, develop self awareness, unlock potential, stop underachieving. Understanding how developmental trauma (CPTSD) impacts on the nervous system and current relationships is vital and developing ways to dialogue, to listen to others, to feel heard is important. As a person-centred therapist I welcome a deep personal engagement and human connection and create a safe respectful space for healing to help you face life, become more confident and be who you really are.

I am currently practicing Face to Face in Lossiemouth and also via Online platforms. At some point in our lives, we may feel ‘things’ are too much for us to manage alone. Whether, we have experienced trauma, feel anxious or depressed or just don’t know what’s wrong or who we are anymore, it can feel overwhelming. It is important to find someone you feel will listen to you and hear what you are saying.

You may have heard that counselling offers you a 'calm, safe space'. I always create a safe space, but I do not expect you to always be calm. Counselling is about bringing everything about you to sessions, whether that is needing to sit and cry or needing to let your anger out within a safe space. Having a time and place to explore and feel these emotions can help you to grow, by being seen, heard, and accepted for who you are. I am a humanist counsellor my pronouns are she/they. I work within the core concepts of person centred. I create a safe and non-judgemental space to begin building the relationship.

I assume you are here because you need help/understanding or seek direction with your life. I completely understand those reasonings and they were some of my motivations to train as a psychotherapist. I have been a client as well as counsellor and therefore aware of that trepidation of taking those first steps towards therapy. I'm glad I did because it empowered me in my desire to do what was right — for me. I am passionate about supporting those struggling with issues which is why I keep my prices as low as possible. You are a valuable individual. You've started your journey now see where it leads you.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counsellors are all licensed mental health professionals. In many countries, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counsellor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counsellors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counsellor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counselling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
