Bu Therapy works with YOU. You are, after all, the expert with what is going on in your life today. Together we will work on areas that might be affecting your life and what you would like to change. CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) looks at the present rather than the past and identifies negative or maladaptive thinking styles that make you see things differently and out of focus. I will work with you in a collaborative manner so we can correct this “blurred view” of life and bring clarity, focus, and direction back into your life, and “together we can come out of the darkness and into the light".

Anxiety, stress and low mood can leave us feeling overwhelmed and difficult to know how to manage this both in our personal and professional lives. Talking to a therapist can be quite daunting. However, I truly believe talking through a problem can really help. I can help you to identify and understand issues you are struggling with and together we can come up with a plan on how to help you overcome these. I have vast experience in mental health and some of my most recent work has been working through work related dress, neurodiversity, social anxiety and gender dysphoria.

I believe that it's important for an individual to find the right counsellor, as one counsellors method may not suit all. I therefore offer my initial consultation at a reduced rate. The initial consultation is not only an opportunity for the counsellors to find out more about the client but also for the client to find out more about the counsellor, giving both the opportunity to discover if a suitable rapport can be built, creating an appropriate environment for counselling to take place.

Imagine if you could regain control of your life so you felt happier, and were no longer dependant or worried about your substance use or problematic behaviours?
Many people struggle with addictions, with such things as alcohol, cocaine, or even sex addiction which is increasing as the internet expands. I will work with you at your own pace to help you recover and move on. I use C.B.T as my core therapy, which is underpinned by 26 years of direct experience in helping people recover from addiction problems.

Welcome! Talking is a wonderful way to share what’s on your mind. You may not even know what is bothering you, but by talking, it helps to get in touch with your emotions and make sense of your thoughts. Changes are often small but can be significant. Speaking with someone who is really listening and can offer a non-judgemental space to fully express yourself, improve your self awareness, and accept you for being you, can help!

I have trained and practise as a person centred counsellor because I believe everyone has the potential to reach inside and find their own strength and resources, with a little help . There are times in all of our lives when we feel we need some extra help to cope with life events and struggles. I would like to help you through whatever it is that brings you here. Whether it is work, life events, or you're not sure what is wrong but feel something is not right, it can help to share your feelings with that impartial, non-judgemental someone, allowing you to clarify your own thoughts and helping you to see a way through.

I am a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist based in Ayrshire. I work predominantly with a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approach, but also draw on other therapeutic approaches to provide a more integrative and tailored therapy for you. There are times when we all experience situations that cause distress or uncertainty and it can be difficult to move past these events or to speak to those close to us.

I have four years of experience in helping rural adults with grief and loss, trauma, substance use, anxiety, depression and chronic illness.
I specialise in supporting adults who live in rural communities, who feel overwhelmed, isolated, or impacted by significant life challenges. Many of my clients are managing the emotional strain of career-ending illness or injury, trauma, divorce, grief and loss - including the often overlooked grief that can accompany the loss of animals. I frequently work with people who are under pressure to keep going while experiencing anxiety, depression, or issues relating to diagnosis of ADHD or autism. Rural life can bring unique stresses and many people feel they must cope alone.

Where to start? If there is anything such as an ideal starting point for therapy, I would say it's curiosity. To wonder about yourself, how have you become who you are? And how does that feel today? My job is to be curious with you, help you explore, notice, feel, point out possible blind spots, for you to can make better informed choices and be a more authentic version of yourself.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from yourself, you don’t have to face it alone. Perhaps you appear to be coping on the outside, yet inside you feel anxious, self-doubting, or unsure of who you are anymore. I offer a safe, accepting space where you can speak freely, be truly heard, and explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. Together, we can gently untangle what feels difficult, helping you build self-trust, clarity, and a stronger sense of who you are.

“vulnerability is not weakness, it is our greatest measure of courage” Brene Brown. You might know what your goals for therapy are or you may be feeling overwhelmed and confused about where to even begin. As an experienced Cognitive Behavioural Therapist I can offer you a safe space to explore your difficulties in confidence; to identify how you would like things to be and work with you to find your own way forward. Although my approach is primarily CBT based I work in a trauma informed way, drawing upon a variety of therapeutic approaches learned throughout my professional development.

Facing the day with a niggling sense of confusion, unease or sadness will affect everything around you, it limits your ability to engage and really be in the moment. These feelings may be linked to a past event in your life, a situation you are currently in or you may be unclear as to why you feel this way. What is important is that at the centre is you. Often, we know we need to prioritise ourselves better, but maybe we do not know how to, we are unsure what we need and are hesitant to ask for this. Are you eager to find out why you respond the way you do? Why you think the way you do at times?

Substance Use Counsellors
How do substance and drug recovery or rehabilitation programs work?
In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other clients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals reside at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counsellors, and psychotherapists. Staff often also includes people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other methods.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?
Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for substance use reduce the amount of drugs they consume. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.

Are there specific medications for substance and drug use?
There are medications approved to treat substance use disorder—such as buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone, and acamprosate. These medications do help people cope with substance use as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone can help reduce cravings, methadone is an opioid medication used to treat severe pain, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.
