I work extensively with people experiencing relationship issues in their personal & professional lives; that can be about exploring challenges, facing changes taking place & understanding what these mean to you.
People seek therapy & counselling for different reasons & you will have your own unique life experiences that may cause you unhappiness or you may find yourself at crisis point feeling unsure of what to do next. I have worked with many different clients from across the social & cultural spectrum from medical professionals to artists, full-time students to stay at home parents & retirees. I understand that often it is the first step, no matter who we are, that can feel the hardest; the reaching out & making contact. You may want to explore options for change, make sense of a difficult experience or gain new strategies for coping.

As a Chartered Health Psychologist, my work is grounded in the understanding that many psychological difficulties make sense when viewed in the context of a person’s experiences, relationships, and environment.
At the core of my practice is creating a space that feels containing, supportive, and steady, particularly during periods of distress. I tailor my approach to each individual rather than applying a single model. Central to this is formulation: a collaborative process of developing a shared understanding of what has led to current difficulties for each person

Certified Couples Therapist, trained in ACT and Mindfulness.
You may be feeling stuck in patterns that keep repeating despite your best efforts. Perhaps you find yourself overthinking, taking too much responsibility, feeling “not good enough” or emotionally disconnected. Anxiety, low mood or the impact of past experiences may be leaving you exhausted and unsure of who you are beneath these patterns. You may want more than just coping — you want to understand where these patterns come from and how to move towards a more grounded, confident and authentic way of being.

Do you feel a bit lost, frustrated, down or hopeless and unsure of how to make changes? Perhaps you feel like you are repeating the same life patterns. You may feel like you have tried everything and are on your last attempt. Well done for taking this step as I understand how daunting it can be, having done so myself. Lots of people are unsure of what to expect, fear being judged, or have difficulty opening up. I believe we could all benefit from therapy at times. How often do you have someone listen entirely to you in life? Choosing the right therapist can be overwhelming and its important we connect first in a free 15 minute call.

I work with individuals and couples, to help understand what is getting in the way of living a more balanced life.
Perhaps you are at a place right now where you are not feeling able to manage like you normally would. I would love to work with you to help understand what is happening for you that is impacting on your mental fitness and getting in the way of you living how you would like to. Therapy is not always a quick fix, there will no doubt be challenges. However, we would be working together to navigate through this difficult time, and that is something that I can offer you.

Much of what has hurt us in life has happened in relationships with others.
Safety in relationships comes about by having your opinions and thoughts listened to and accepted as valid. It comes about by the person that you're with being consistent, reliable, and trustworthy. It means feeling relaxed and comfortable in your body and mind.

It's tough opening up to someone but we, via the therapeutical alliance, can create a safe space of trust where there is confidentiality, no judgment and that the client feels comfortable sharing. Here are some testimonials from previous clients for you to ponder: Social anxiety- My gran nearly fainted when she saw me ask someone who works in a shop a question, something I've never done in my life before. Trauma- Thanks so much for all that you've done, honestly you've been a saviour to me. Low self esteem- I've realised I'm stronger than I thought. Depression- You've helped me see that I can get the joy back in my life. Thanks.

I work with women, men, couples, groups and organisations and am interested in working with any aspect of a person’s life with a special interest in issues around intimacy, sexuality, conflict, abuse, trauma, dissociation and loss.
I offer a safe and confidential space within which we might explore what is happening in any area of a person's life, how to bring meaning to a situation or to find ways to go forward. My approach is to work with each person’s unique lived experience and own way of making meaning about their life. I work in a collaborative and co-creative way that is respectful of each person’s autonomy and wisdom to know or discover what they need. It is not my role to diagnose or pathologise a person’s experience. Rather it is to to accompany the people I work alongside, with a focus on how the person experiences themselves and others.

FAQ - About Couples Therapy
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
