I work with adults and young people experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, stress, social anxiety, relationship difficulties, and life transitions. Many clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or struggling with the impact of difficult experiences. Using CBT and EMDR, I help clients identify unhelpful patterns, process distressing memories, build resilience, and develop practical tools to navigate life's challenges with greater confidence.

In sessions with me, along with words, we can use art materials, or any to hand objects, like a pencil, a piece of paper or string to express what is happening for you.
This form of therapy can be helpful irrespective of the challenges you are facing. In the NHS, I worked with adults suffering from substance misuse, brain injury, self harm, anxiety, and depression. My doctorate explored sex, sexuality and alternative lifestyles. Whatever you bring I will be with you, pay attention, follow your pace, and encourage your aims.

Welcome! Talking is a wonderful way to share what’s on your mind. You may not even know what is bothering you, but by talking, it helps to get in touch with your emotions and make sense of your thoughts. Changes are often small but can be significant. Speaking with someone who is really listening and can offer a non-judgemental space to fully express yourself, improve your self awareness, and accept you for being you, can help!

Hello and Welcome to Worth Counselling, a safe and supportive counselling space for women! I don’t know if you have ever had the opportunity to share your story where someone really listens. I mean really listens, wanting to know you, your story, your ups and downs. Where nothing is off limits. Space to speak what maybe you’ve never spoken before. Sitting in the counsellee seat is not always easy and opening up to someone you do not know can be daunting. I know that taking that first step requires courage and I would love to walk with you on your journey.

Beginning therapy can feel like a big step — and it is. It can be both daunting and deeply freeing to start this journey toward healing and self-understanding. As a qualified integrative psychotherapist, I offer a warm, safe, and non-judgmental space where you can explore the challenges you’re facing at your own pace. Together, we’ll work to find the strategies and insights that best support your wellbeing — whether you’re seeking short-term guidance or a longer journey of growth and healing. My goal is for you to feel respected, heard, and understood — because every person is worthy of care, compassion, and the chance to heal.

Therapy generally can be challenging, discovering ones barriers, patterns of behaviour, amongst many other possible struggles that aren't serving you well in your daily life or that you've been carrying with you for a long time. As a pluralistic counsellor and psychotherapist, I embrace this diversity of human experiences and what each individual brings to the counselling room. I specialise in working with individuals who have experienced abuse, trauma, anxiety, depression, addictions and bereavement. Whether seeking support in these areas or others, I offer a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore, grow, and thrive.

I am a Pluralistic Counsellor working in Royal Deeside. I am also a Clinical Supervisor. Working Pluralistically means that I may work in different modalities, where I may work in a Person Centred approach and may draw elements from CBT, Creative therapies, Solution Focused therapy or Psychodynamic approaches, depending on what the client finds most useful. I work with Young people and Adults who are struggling with a wide range of difficulties including anxiety and depression in a safe, therapeutic environment, which is non-judgemental. I believe it is more about who I am and my character, that has drawn me into Counselling.

My approach is integrative and relational, informed by trauma-sensitive practice, embodiment, and art psychotherapy.
It can be really hard to admit when you’re feeling depressed, overwhelmed, burnt out, or weighed down by responsibilities. You may have tried talking to friends or family, but they don’t always understand — or they simply don’t know how to help. That’s often the moment people realise they need someone who can meet their experience with compassion, training, and genuine care.

Before training as an art psychotherapist, I worked as a textile designer and art teacher, and I still carry that creative background with me in how I work and think today.
As a queer and neurodivergent practitioner, I’m really attentive to how our identities are shaped by the world around us - socially, culturally, and politically. I also see therapy as something that can extend beyond the individual, connecting to community, creativity, and collective care.

As a psychotherapist with 17 years of practice, I work with couples and individuals to understand the patterns shaping their lives and relationships, make sense of what they are going through, and explore what may be standing in the way of change. Many people who contact me already know that something is not working. They may find themselves repeating the same patterns in relationships, struggling to express what they really think or feel, adapting around others to keep the peace, or feeling stuck between wanting something different and feeling unable to move towards it.

I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the most important aspect of Counselling. The therapeutic relationship can provide you with a safe base to feel truly heard, accepted and understood in a non-judgemental and confidential environment. My aim is that therapy will be a collaborative, personalised, authentic and rewarding experience. During sessions, I may use psychoeducation where I feel this may be beneficial to you to enable you to gain an understanding and to increase self-awareness. I believe that a client should have a ‘toolbox’ to use following their therapy journey.

How does art therapy work?
The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?
Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?
The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?
Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioural therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
