Hello and welcome. Starting counselling can feel worrisome even if you have attended counselling previously. We all have our reasons for approaching counselling; stress, overwhelm, depression , anxiety, grief and trauma impacts can seem to control everything including our behaviours, relationships, and work - our lives in general. Working with warmth and building trust is at the core of my approach. By taking one step at a time, in a contained space we can work collaboratively in achieving your aims and help you see your life and yourself in a different light.

So if it's anxiety or depression , stress or bereavement, or you just feel that something's not quite right but you can't put your finger on it, why not give Counselling a try.
Hi, I am a person-centred trained qualified counsellor. I believe in giving my clients a warm, inviting and safe space in which you can bring any issues you choose to explore. I am not going to tell you how to live your life or judge you, but help you find a balance that works best for you through exploration of the issues you bring to each session. I have a lot of life and client experience that enables me to understand and fully empathise with many situations. Many people need help with coping with life at some point.

My name is Niamh, and I am a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist. CBT provides a structure which helps you to explore your emotions, thoughts, behaviours and move towards a more manageable tomorrow armed with insight and self-awareness. I offer a space for individuals to address the difficulties they are encountering and teach practical tools, techniques, and skills to help people overcome the issues they are experiencing. CBT is very effective when working with specific therapy goals like managing anxiety or moving out of a period of depression . It is recommended for many issues including PTSD, OCD, eating disorders and addictions.

Your relationships affect the way you feel and difficulties can make you very unhappy, hurt and angry. One in five say their relationship is in distress. Some reasons people give are - emotional pain and distress, feeling unloved, conflict, infidelity, sex, different outlooks, children, career, addiction or family relationships. Communication, is often cited as at the heart of a distressed relationship, each of us thinks we are clear about telling our loved ones what is going on for us and we get frustrated when they just ‘don’t hear us’. It can all be very confusing and difficult to resolve.

I have a particular interest in anxiety, depression , workplace stress and relationship problems.
Sometimes life can seem overwhelming and whilst it is good to talk to friends and family, sometimes you need an independent professional to talk to about your problems. Counselling gives you a safe and confidential space to look at your situation and understand the root cause of your current difficulties. As a counsellor I don’t give advice but help you to discover the solution that works for you,

What I do best is use evidence-based interventions (CBT, ACT, EMDR) to help women like you break free from anxiety, stress, panic or depression to step into a life they love.
I'm Dr Michaela Dunbar, Clinical Psychologist and Founder of My Easy Therapy, and what do I know about you? You’re used to accepting your negative thoughts as facts, now they are creating persistent anxiety and low mood, taking you completely away from your values and goals, and affecting your relationships. You probably find it really difficult to sit with uncomfortable emotions like sadness, anxiety or anger and have gotten into a habit of doing things to try to avoid them which ends up making matters worse. Something in you wants to make a change and you know you need support to do it. It's super hard but that's where I come in.

Depression Counsellors
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy by depression counsellors in Linlithgow. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
