The most important aspect of success in counselling is the relationship between us. I tailor the approach to your needs in collaboration with you so that ultimately you can become your own therapist, by applying new skills and techniques to determine positive patterns of thinking and behaving. I understand that coming for therapy can be a bit scary or daunting, even if you have been before, meeting someone new can be challenging especially if you’re feeling vulnerable or out of sorts. Choosing to come for therapy is about caring for and prioritising your own needs, and allowing yourself time and space to think things through.

Do you have a sense that something isn’t quite right — not dramatically wrong, just a feeling that won’t go away? Maybe relationships feel harder than they should, or you’re exhausted from always being the one who holds everything together. Something still feels hollow, or just out of reach. These feelings often have roots that go back further than people realise — responses that made sense once, when the world felt less safe. But what protected you then may be keeping you stuck now. We’re here to help you understand why. Contact us for a free consulation:

Life can be difficult and painful at times and we could all benefit from a safe space to make sense of and process difficult emotions, develop our resilience and coping strategies. I am a qualified CBT Counsellor and predominantly work with clients using a CBT based approach but can also call upon skills and experience I have gained through additional training in clinical hypnotherapy, life coaching and person-centred counselling.

I am a qualified counsellor, registered with BACP. My training specialises in supporting children and adolescents, with which I have extensive experience, in particularly in trauma; having provided counselling sessions, in both Primary and Secondary Schools for over ten years. I am empathic and accepting of all. No young person should have to go it alone. Every behaviour is a form of communication, often of an unmet need. When we meet that need, the behaviours can change. Early intervention through counselling support, can help the young person make sense of what is going on in their minds, bodies and lives.

Many of my clients come to therapy when their old ways of coping are no longer working — when strategies that once helped them survive now feel limiting, painful, or isolating. Often, there's a deep desire to feel more connected to others, but the first step is reconnecting with themselves. I believe those two are deeply intertwined. I often work with highly sensitive and neurodivergent individuals who are navigating a world that doesn’t always reflect their ways of being. Together, we explore how to move from simply coping to living with more agency, connection, and ease.

I work with individuals and couples navigating life's "in-between" spaces—those feeling the weight of cultural shifts, identity confusion, or family roles that no longer fit. My clients often feel like strangers to themselves, arriving with a sense of survival rather than true connection. I offer a space where your contradictions are welcome and your voice is finally heard. By integrating depth-oriented tools with creative metaphor, I help you untangle old patterns and move through transitions without the need for a clinical script. Together, we work toward living with genuine presence and clarity.

Healing is about time, place and person. When you are ready the right person will appear. Personal recommendations can be helpful, but in my experience you know the right person for you. I offer a 20 minute discovery call where you can see for yourself if we are the right fit. You and I will both know if this feels "right" and we can chat about the different ways in which I work to see what's best and where you would like to start. I work in an integrated way using talking therapies, bodywork, breathwork, energy healing, flower essences and sleep hygiene to support your journey to wellness. I cannot wait to connect with you.

Thank you for viewing my profile, I am aware that seeking therapy and finding the right practitioner can be challenging aspects of any journey. In my practice I aim to make the process of therapy accessible, by collaborating with you at each step and tailoring the therapy to your current challenges and unique context. Holding a pluralistic philosophy and practice stance, I emphasise both your goals and the evidence-base, as we make sense of your current difficulties. I always aim to foster an environment of acceptance, respect, transparency and emphasise your agency, viewing both of us at the “active ingredients” of therapy.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are members of the main professional associations, mainly the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). Most Psychologists in the directory are accredited members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and/or are registered in the Health and Care Professions Council (HPCP).

Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given that professional memberships are not a statutory requirement for psychotherapists and counsellors in the UK, certain qualified professionals or organisations may choose not to maintain such memberships despite possessing the necessary qualifications. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and experience that enable them to do so in the UK. Psychologists have earned a degree in psychology and many are members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and have completed a postgraduate qualification in a specialism. Counsellors and Psychotherapists are not required to have a psychology degree, but to belong to a professional organisation such as the BACP or UKCP, they are required to have completed a training course as well as clinical and supervision hours.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the UK could be between £30 - £60 when seeing a counsellor and £60 - £150 and up when seeing a clinical psychologist. If you have private insurance, your plan may cover some if not all of your sessions. You should contact your insurance provider to determine if they provide coverage for therapy sessions and to determine what, if any, requirements they might have in order for your sessions to be covered, such as a referral from your GP or medical specialist.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. The NHS Talking therapies programme offers free of charge counselling for common mental health problems like anxiety and depression. The service is available to anyone registered with a GP, though you do not necessarily need to be referred by your GP and can refer yourself directly to a Talking therapies service. The service will provide different solutions, including group and individual therapy, for a limited number of sessions which are generally up to six.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Therapists who are part of a professional organisation such as the BACP, the UKCP, or BPS are bound by an ethical framework that requires them to uphold a confidentiality agreement. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there has been participation in a criminal act or act of terror, or if there is potential or known harm to the client or others, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
