Abuse can have a significant affect on mental health. Whether the abuse happened as a child or as an adult, abusive experiences can lead to low mood, high anxiety, flashbacks to incidents, difficulty trusting others as well as low self-confidence and self-esteem, even when the abuse is historic. These are all normal reactions to difficult and painful experiences. I have worked with people who have experienced abuse for the last 15 years. The work has been transformational for some clients and very helpful for others, whether the abuse is within the family, workplace or within a relationship.

I offer a safe and welcoming space where you can explore your feelings, and thoughts free from fear of judgment. Hello, and thanks for looking at my profile. I’m an accredited therapist with over 19 years experience, and wholly comfortable in helping people with a range of issues, from trauma to depression, abuse to anxiety, and many more. For me, the most important element in therapy is whether you feel you can trust me - and I know this is not always easy. You’ve likely been hurt and perhaps a little wary and weary of people. I’m not going to “fix” you, I can’t! Though the good news is, by working collaboratively, you absolutely can heal the wounds you carry, and begin to live the life you want to.

You might look like you’re coping on the outside—but inside, something doesn’t feel right.
Perhaps you feel overwhelmed by your emotions, stuck in patterns in relationships, or disconnected from yourself. You may have been through experiences that still linger—showing up as anxiety, numbness, self-doubt, or a constant sense of being “on edge.” Even if things seem fine on the surface, something deeper isn’t settling.
If that resonates, therapy can offer a space to begin understanding why things feel this way—and what can start to shift.
