I'm also an EMDR practitioner using trauma based psychotherapy for treating CPTSD & PTSD.
I use a relationship centred counselling approach as research shows that meaningful change happens within a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship— one where you can share your worries and the things you keep private from others- and be held safely with respect and non-judgement.

I am an trained in multiple Psychological Therapies including Humanistic, Emotion Focused Therapy, CBT, Psychodynamic, EMDR amongst other approaches.
I am experienced in working with a broad range of psychological issues and I specialise in anger, depression, anxiety, trauma and many other mental health issues. As people we learn through the experiences we have in the world. Our perceptions of ourselves then shape our relationships with other people, the world, but most importantly, how we think and feel about ourselves. We can develop defences and avoidant behaviours due to these experiences and our perceptions. Sometimes we may avoid our emotions as they seem too difficult, or overwhelming, or we feel out of control. Therapy is where these themes and emotions are explored.

Many of the people I work with are struggling with questions of faith, identity, and culture, often alongside a loss of meaning or a fractured relationship with belief, responsibility, and self. I work with people who want to understand themselves properly, not just manage symptoms. Experiences such as religious trauma, diaspora identity, internalised racism, and racial trauma sit at the centre of my work. My role is not to offer quick fixes. It is to help you think clearly about your life, your history, and the patterns you find yourself repeating, especially the ones you already recognise but cannot shift.

We draw on CBT, ACT, compassion-focused therapy, EMDR and others, choosing the approach that fits you rather than forcing one method.
We work with adults, teenagers and children across Glasgow, Edinburgh and online. Most people come to us for one of two reasons: they're struggling with anxiety, low mood, stress, trauma or relationships and want to feel like themselves again, or they want to know whether they have ADHD or autism and need a proper assessment. Our team is made up entirely of doctorate-level, HCPC-registered psychologists. We take time to understand what's going on, then match you with the right psychologist and an evidence-based approach. Our assessments follow NICE guidelines and meet the AQAS standard, so you get clear, recognised answers.

I offer an integrative approach using Schema Therapy, EMDR and Compassion Focused Therapy to help bridge the gap between what you understand logically and what you feel emotionally.
Many of my clients are thoughtful, self-aware people who understand where their difficulties come from, yet still feel stuck. You might know you are good enough, yet not feel it. You may struggle with low mood, anxiety, low self-esteem or a harsh inner critic that affects relationships, work and daily life. I have a special interest in maternal mental health, supporting women with postpartum anxiety, birth trauma, mum guilt, overwhelm or feeling lost in motherhood, as well as difficulties that continue beyond this stage. Whether you are a mum or not, if you feel exhausted, stuck or disconnected from yourself, you are not alone.

What if. Two words that send your mind down a well-worn path. Words and images that pop into your head at any moment and no matter how hard you try to push it away you find yourself stuck; thinking, feeling and doing the same thing over and over. Maybe it’s reliving the past, maybe it’s worrying about the future, or feeling you need to do something right now or something bad will happen. “What if” is hard to live with. But when your mind is stuck in the “what if’s” your brain is telling you there is something you need to figure out, something you need to rebalance.

EMDR Counsellors
Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimising its ability to trigger anxiety.
