I offer online and in-person counselling for individuals and couples, so please get in touch.
Individual & Couples Counselling & Clinical Supervision. “Life doesn’t get better by chance, it gets better by change”. At times we can all feel anxious or uncertain of our future. Sometimes we need to make changes in order to improve our situation. However, the prospect of change can feel overwhelming, leaving us feeling disconnected, isolated and lonely. Hearing your thoughts out loud, with a professional, can be an opportunity to gain some clarity and begin the process of change. I truly believe that a small change in the way we think can make a big difference to the way we feel.

I practise Psychodynamic Counselling and Therapy in Edinburgh. People seek therapy for many different reasons. For instance, you might feel anxious about something. Or you might feel stuck—leaving you feeling helpless or unhappy. Or you may feel that it is difficult to form meaningful relationships. Sometimes feelings of unhappiness, frustration, anger, or sadness can feel overwhelming. However, through therapy, which involves dialogue and listening, your experience may start to change. As a result, you may feel freer. Therapy allows you to safely reflect on, and express, your feelings.

I offer therapy sessions in-person in a therapeutic environment, or online via video call or telephone with flexible availability.
I have a genuine desire to help others who are experiencing difficulties with their low mood. If I were to ask you how your mood has been lately what would you say? Irritable, frustrated and angry with bouts of crying, tearfulness or distress. Have you been struggling with relationships, your job, a significant loss maybe or feel very alone just now? Is it starting to affect your sleep, appetite and your day to day living which is starting to feel more like an effort. Living with depressions doesn't have to be so difficult, understanding and making sense of it all can help. This is where i come in.

I offer therapy sessions in-person and online daytime Monday to Thursday and online on Tuesday evenings.
I have over 20 years experience working in varied settings responding to a range of issues: anxiety, depression, chronic illness, stress, relationship difficulties, bereavement, minority issues, trauma and abuse and end of life care. I've also worked with neurodiversity, and with women's experiences of infertility, IVF and menopause. I aim to build an accepting and trusting relationship where we can generate a practice of gentle curiosity towards whatever is emerging. Through this an understanding of the client’s inner world and its influence over past and present can come into awareness and introduce the possibility of change.

I'm welcoming new clients online from January and in-person from February.
You may be feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or caught in patterns that don’t make sense anymore. Many of the people I support describe carrying too much, feeling responsible for everyone else, or losing touch with their own needs. You might want clarity, steadiness, or simply somewhere you can say things out loud. You don’t need to have everything worked out. Therapy gives you space to explore what’s happening and make sense of what you need next. We take it step by step, at a pace that feels safe for you.

In some cases I may be able to offer face to face on a Friday but the beauty of online counselling is it takes away some of the difficulties of travelling and parking.
Many people face situations and trials in their lives and box them away and put them in a cupboard hoping to block them out. And one day they attempt to put another box in the cupboard and they all tumble out on top of them. The saying that time is a healer isn't always true. Sometime time makes things worse. What I will help you do is to take those boxes out and look in them, process them and hopefully give them a decent burial. Years of self-medicating by constant studying, working, overeating or whatever means you use to soothe the pain and block out the unthinkable can stop,

Often life can throw things at us which can be very challenging and difficult to cope with. As a result, we may feel anxious, angry or sad. Often having someone walk alongside us on our journey, and having time and space to process these things can be very useful. If this is where you are at the moment, counselling might be something to think about.
