I have worked with people experiencing anxiety, loss and bereavement, PTSD , trauma and gender dysphoria.
Finding a therapist who you feel really "gets you" is not always easy and can take time. From personal experience I know how invaluable therapy can be when you share your vulnerabilities and receive compassion without judgement in return. Whatever is bringing you to counselling at this time in your life, I would offer you an open and honest space to share your feelings without fear of rejection. I would be privileged to help in your search for the answers that you are looking for to move forward from where you are now, and in doing so help you feel more at peace within yourself.

I have a particular interest in Trauma, PTSD ,Fear and Addictions and its connection with Anxiety and Depression and work to help you find the solutions to reduce the impact this has on your life.
You can feel very alone when you are experiencing difficulties and uncertainty in your life, when your thoughts and emotions overwhelm you and a way forward feels hard to see. Counselling can provide a safe, confidential space for you to explore your thoughts and emotions, to help you better understand what you are feeling, allowing you the knowledge to find greater self awareness and safety within yourself. This provides you opportunities to have the space and choice in your life to find your own way forward to facilitate your potential for change, growth and personal fulfilment to create lasting positive changes in your life.

I have 13 years of experience working as a Trauma Therapist. Initially, I worked within the NHS and treated trauma alongside PTSD responses to birth as a midwife and trauma therapist. My private practice developed more broadly, working with anxiety, depression, PTSD , dissociation and relationship stresses in any of life's circumstances. I am happy to work with almost any general life issue. Grief, sexual or other abuse, rape, and lifelong bullying are frequent concerns in therapy, and couple therapy is of particular interest. I use EMDR, Rewind, Trauma-focused CBT in a person-centred approach and work with clients online

With a background as a Principal Clinical Psychologist at the NHS trauma specialist service, I work with those impacted by trauma, PTSD , OCD, anxiety, low mood, low self-esteem and for those who are looking to make changes in their life, but aren’t sure where to start.
What if. Two words that send your mind down a well-worn path. Words and images that pop into your head at any moment and no matter how hard you try to push it away you find yourself stuck; thinking, feeling and doing the same thing over and over. Maybe it’s reliving the past, maybe it’s worrying about the future, or feeling you need to do something right now or something bad will happen. “What if” is hard to live with. But when your mind is stuck in the “what if’s” your brain is telling you there is something you need to figure out, something you need to rebalance.

My desire is to see you thrive. I love supporting individuals on their journey of self-discovery. I provide weekly one to one psychotherapy in person from Euston and online. With over 15 years clinical experience, I started my career in addictions drug, alcohol & eating disorders. I worked for many years, with complex trauma & PTSD at one of the UK's largest NHS Foundation Trusts. For the last 5 years I have been in private practice, mostly with diverse women who prefer not to keep explain issues around race or culture. However, my trauma informed approach is suitable for all groups.

Trauma and PTSD Counsellors

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
