I’m a qualified post grad CBT therapist, Yoga instructor, and studied islamic psychology (Sufism) for 17 years. Life at times can feel a little over whelming, we can lose perspective and fall into a pattern of unhealthy habits, sleeping too late, emotional eating, drinking too much alcohol, and in constant worry. These behaviours may be your coping strategies to help you feel better but aren’t so helpful to your physical and mental well being resulting in feeling anxious and depressed. Having an outside perspective on what’s going on in your life can really help refocus your mind and realign your life style with your core values.

We all experience emotional pain; as an infant, a child, a teenager, a parent and an adult. Whether it’s in response to life events (e.g. loss, trauma, moves), transitions (e.g. to adolescents, as a parent, retirement), adjustment to ill health (e.g. cancer, chronic illness, injury) or life in general (e.g. long term low mood or anxiety). Accepting that we need help and support can be hard and daunting. Getting the right help is important and can teach you how to live a fulfilling life .

Therapy requires bravery, vulnerability, and self-love. Sometimes it is the hardest thing you will ever do in your life , but it can be the most rewarding. As a Cognitive behavioural psychotherapist I help people understand how the stories they have created about themselves impact their lives today, and what they can do to create a new story. The overall aim of therapy is to support you to explore your difficulties in a safe space and achieve the goals that you identify. My practice is centred on trust, empathy and empowerment.

Having experienced the need for counselling in my own life , I feel I am in a position to better understand the challenges of asking for help.
I am a qualified counsellor and Accredited member of the BACP. I use a pluralistic approach to my therapy. This involves working collaboratively with my clients, their individuality thus incorporating shared decision making.  I can work with a wide range of concerns and assist you with issues you may be facing such as anxiety, depression, trauma, addictions, stress, anger, sexual abuse and many others. An example of this approach is discussing with you what you would like to achieve from therapy then working together to achieve the most effective way to get there.

Therapy is a way to find our way back to our life ’s true path.
I find the Person-Centred Approach fits my own philosophy as it has at its very core, an unshakable belief that all people are good. Person-Centred counselling believes that each and every person can, and will, become a more fully functioning person if given the correct conditions. The underpinning principles of the Person- Centred Approach are focused on the counsellor being honest, non-judgmental and fully accepting whilst being fully integrated in the relationship allowing the client to lead and set the pace. I aim to offer these conditions as best as I can during our relationship.

REDUCED COUNSELLING RATE! A warm welcome to you. The Coronavirus is affecting all elements of our lives at the moment. There is a lot to deal with that may be eased from seeking emotional support through counselling. You may also be looking for counselling for wider issues that have been present in your life and have been effecting you from before the virus began: in your home, childhood, relationships, work, family and social life . These may have been exacerbated due to enforced isolation at this time. Whatever the reason you are seeking counselling i am looking forward to hearing from you.

It's tough opening up to someone but we, via the therapeutical alliance, can create a safe space of trust where there is confidentiality, no judgment and that the client feels comfortable sharing. Here are some testimonials from previous clients for you to ponder: Social anxiety- My gran nearly fainted when she saw me ask someone who works in a shop a question, something I've never done in my life before. Grief- My therapist has helped me as I was feeling lonely and it cheered me and made me realise that I do have a future by myself with friends and family to support me. Low self esteem- I've realised I'm stronger than I thought.

Life Coaching Counsellors

What can I expect from life coaching?

Clients and coaches will typically start by identifying the problem area(s) that the client hopes to address—then, the coach will help the client brainstorm potential solutions and explore concrete techniques to help the client attain their goals. Coaching is typically short-term and focused on finding solutions in the here and now, rather than exploring a client’s past. In addition to strategies aimed at the client’s specific concerns, coaches may encourage general stress management techniques such as meditation.

Can a life coach help treat anxiety?

Because the majority of life coaches are not licensed clinicians, they are not qualified to diagnose or treat anxiety. Anyone struggling with anxiety or another mental health condition should seek help from a licensed mental health practitioner. However, some coaching clients who struggle with subclinical anxiety report that working with their coach on other problems—such as career dissatisfaction or unhealthy habits—has a positive effect on their anxiety.

Can life coaching be done online?

Yes. While life coaching often happens in person, many coaches conduct sessions over the phone or via online platforms such as Zoom or Skype. Because life coaches are not subject to local licensing regulations in the same way that therapists are, they are able to see clients who live in other locations.

How long does life coaching last?

Life coaching tends to be a shorter-term process than therapy, though it does not always unfold over a specific period of time and is instead based on the coach’s or the client’s preferences. Coaching often takes place over three to 12 months but may be shorter or longer if necessary.
