My ideal clients are individuals or couples who feel emotionally or relationally stuck, unsettled, or caught in painful patterns. They may be dealing with anxiety, shame, trauma, loss, intimacy difficulties, trust ruptures, family conflict, or repeated arguments that no longer feel workable. Often they come at a point of rupture or transition, or simply because something doesn’t feel right. They want greater clarity, emotional freedom, stronger boundaries, deeper understanding, and more satisfying ways of relating to themselves and others.

Do you feel you would like your relationship to be in a better place? Perhaps you're going through a life transition, such as becoming parents, or you're raising a family and you would love to find that spark between you as a couple again. Have you noticed a distance between you, and that you miss the closeness and intimacy you once shared? Maybe your relationship has reached a crisis point such as an affair and you're looking to help your relationship heal. Or maybe communication has become an issue, leaving you feeling that your true needs are not being met and you would like to understand each other better.

As a result, difficulties like infidelity, jealousy, envy, loneliness, repeating conflicts - these can cut to the core of who we are.
I am not interested in 'analysing' you or filling our time with 'therapy speak' - I prefer to relate to you person to person, in direct terms. We'll start by understanding your problems from your point of view, how you experience them. I have specialist knowledge of the psychology of love, connection, and relationships, which we can make use of in our work.

We all need to feel that we are being seen, that our voice is being heard, in safe and empathetic company. If you are in distress, confused or isolated, I will see and hear you as a whole person, not just as an issue or concern. I will support you by holding a space for you to breathe and reflect on worries, anxieties or uncertainties that may be holding you back and explore ways forward to fulfil your potential. Healing can be found in creativity, used as another form of expression when words run out.

Facing the day with a niggling sense of confusion, unease or sadness will affect everything around you, it limits your ability to engage and really be in the moment. These feelings may be linked to a past event in your life, a situation you are currently in or you may be unclear as to why you feel this way. What is important is that at the centre is you. Often, we know we need to prioritise ourselves better, but maybe we do not know how to, we are unsure what we need and are hesitant to ask for this. Are you eager to find out why you respond the way you do? Why you think the way you do at times?

Hello. I am Louise, a Person-Centred Counsellor, working in Glasgow. I offer sessions online, over the phone, and in person, based in the city centre. Some people I support have a specific goal they would like to work towards. Others seek out counselling because of a more general feeling, of life being not quite how they would like it to be. The direction and the pace of counselling are based on what feels right for you.

Hello. I provide counselling and counselling supervision. Common thoughts that lead people to come to counselling include the following: "I can't get rid of my anger." , "Will this grief never end?" , "Why can't I form meaningful relationships?", "I can't bear living with this anxiety", "I can't see any point in anything.", "Why am I drinking so much?", "I feel so stressed at work all the time." and "I often feel that life is not worth living." When such thoughts and feelings seriously affect our ability to enjoy life then it may be time to think about getting help.

Do you feel overwhelmed or anxious? Is it all getting too much at times? Do you feel stuck but don’t know how to change? It can help to have someone impartial to talk to who can help you through difficult times and give you some space to deal with whatever is causing your distress. This is where therapy can help. I believe people seek therapy because they want to make a change in their lives. This can be scary, but having felt overwhelmed and anxious at times myself, I hope to be able to offer a supportive, calm, safe environment for you to explore your issues and work towards the best solution for you.

Infidelity Counsellors
How does therapy for infidelity work?
A skilled infidelity therapist will provide a safe space for clients to communicate their feelings and concerns. The goal is to be completely honest about what led to the cheating and how it has affected the entire family to prevent it from recurring in the future. The therapist will help the clients work on rebuilding mutual trust and respect and developing better communication and conflict-resolution skills. If the goal is to remain a couple, clients will learn the “danger signs” for their specific relationship, and they will make a renewed commitment to be faithful.

How long does therapy for infidelity take?
Recovery from infidelity can take time, and it can vary from person to person. Generally, a therapist will want to see the clients at least once a week for around six months. Then the sessions can be arranged as needed, depending on the clients’ individual needs. While therapy may end or shift to an as-needed basis, it can take up to two years or more for some clients to fully recover from infidelity.

How does therapy help the partner who was cheated on?
When a client discovers their partner’s infidelity, their trust in the relationship and in the life they had together may be shattered. They often experience mental health symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They don’t always want to stay in the relationship; they may feel ambivalent or may even want to leave. Therapy gives these clients a safe and healthy way to communicate all of their complicated emotions and concerns.

How does therapy help the partner who committed infidelity?
Infidelity often occurs when one or both partners’ emotional needs are not being met in the relationship. Therapy can help this client understand why they cheated and figure out how to address those unmet needs without resorting to infidelity in the future. This can lessen (but not entirely eliminate) the risk of repeated infidelity. Clients who cheat may also feel intense guilt about deceiving their partners, a sentiment that they can work through in therapy.
