Welcome. Whatever is going on for you, whatever it is that you would like to be different – I offer a supportive relationship to help you find a deeper understanding and acceptance about yourself and what you are experiencing. This process can help illicit the change needed for more authentic and peaceful living. I believe in the potential - and, at some level - knowing in each of us to move towards what we need in life - but stuff gets in the way, we push down on this knowing in order to protect ourselves, and this causes suffering. Counselling can be helpful to us as we, compassionately, find our way back/forward to ourselves.

We provide Counselling and Psychotherapy for Individuals dealing with personal or sexual issues and Couples dealing with Relationship issues or Sexual difficulties. Psychosexual therapy or Sex Therapy is a talking-based treatment and doesn't involve touch during consultation. Psychosexual problems are emotional and/or psychological that can be caused by, or lead to physical problems. It is based on the Biopsychosocial Healthcare Model so, we may at times refer a client to a GP if necessary e.g., for an endocrine test to check various hormone levels.

I will aim to build a strong, trusting, intimate relationship with you so we can truly work together, using both my knowledge and your potential and insight into your own inner world.
When we're struggling, we have many urgent needs: to be held and understood, to feel warmth, empathy and compassion, to have guidance, support, safety, wisdom. Sometimes we need help with a specific issue, and at other times we might have a vague feeling that something is wrong but not quite know what, or how to make it better. We might find ourselves in the depths of despair, or feel sort of OK but keep wondering if there's more to life. If you recognise yourself in any of the above then there is a good chance that counselling, which is a combination of science and humanity, would help you. It could even be life-changing.

I find the Person-Centred Approach fits my own philosophy as it has at its very core, an unshakable belief that all people are good. Person-Centred counselling believes that each and every person can, and will, become a more fully functioning person if given the correct conditions. The underpinning principles of the Person- Centred Approach are focused on the counsellor being honest, non-judgmental and fully accepting whilst being fully integrated in the relationship allowing the client to lead and set the pace. I aim to offer these conditions as best as I can during our relationship .

The experience of counselling can vary quite a lot depending on who you're working with, so it's important that you find someone you're comfortable with. One thing I'd like to make sure is that you feel safe and secure in the counselling relationship , and that you feel empowered to take your therapy where you want it to go. I'll be there with you to go to places that may feel painful or scary, and you can count on me to challenge your blocks and barriers. But ultimately, we will be going at your pace, respecting your boundaries, and following your agenda.

The therapist or counsellor is not some superior authority, but a curious, honest, empathic, non-judgemental partner who believes everyone has a natural tendency towards their own version of personal growth - at some level you know best what you need.
Originally from Manchester, I now live in Glasgow. I started my counselling training in London on Goldsmith University’s Graduate Certificate in Humanistic & Psychodynamic Counselling, before completing the University of Strathclyde’s MSc, Counselling & Psychotherapy. At Strathclyde I trained in Person-Centred Therapy and this forms the basis of my practice. I have experience working with a wide variety of people, I’m particularly familiar with autism and neurodiversity, and I work with all kinds of issues including depression and anxiety, as well as those vague feelings of just not being what you ought to be.

I have a particular interest in working with people with relationship problems, including their relationship with their self and, with their own emotions and emotional regulation. This can manifest as social anxiety, with an underlying sense of not being good enough or being odd/not fitting in with other people and society’s expectations. If you struggle with your own identity - not knowing your own likes/dislikes/values (sometimes called codependency), then get in touch. We can explore together what gets in the way of you knowing (and accepting) the real you.

I am passionate about working with people to lead a fulfilling life and value a positive working relationship .
We all experience emotional pain; as an infant, a child, a teenager, a parent and an adult. Whether it’s in response to life events (e.g. loss, trauma, moves), transitions (e.g. to adolescents, as a parent, retirement), adjustment to ill health (e.g. cancer, chronic illness, injury) or life in general (e.g. long term low mood or anxiety). Accepting that we need help and support can be hard and daunting. Getting the right help is important and can teach you how to live a fulfilling life.

As an experienced Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, I work collaboratively with my clients to achieve their goals. These goals may be around managing mental health conditions such as anxiety or depression or improving confidence or self esteem, working through relationship problems and major life changes or simply having the time and space to explore thoughts and feelings in a safe, confidential and non judgemental space. CBT aims to identify unhelpful thinking patterns linked to past experiences that influence how we feel and how we behave and make sustainable changes, resulting in improved decision making and wellbeing.

Are you tired of pretending everything’s fine or fed up of not feeling heard? Maybe you’ve been blindsided by life events, feel overwhelmed and need to make changes but don’t know where to start? I support people coping with change and loss, such as relationship difficulties, shifts in sexual identity, new careers, retirement, parenthood, illness or bereavement. Life changes like these can bring up doubts and fears that shake your sense of self. You may also find that traumatic or distressing events from the past push their way up and refuse to be ignored. I can help you face things that seem too daunting to tackle alone.

Are you struggling with an experience you've had or are having currently? Are you feeling the weight of these experiences? As a person-centred psychotherapist, I aim to provide a space and relationship in which I seek to help alleviate the weight and accompany you from under it to a place where you feel empowered and in control. I work with adults (16+) in order to help them grow and work towards a happier life. It is important to remember that therapy isn't a pill that fixes everything at once, it requires time and care, as do you. As your therapist, I will be an ear to your experience and a voice in times that may seem impossible.

Couples Counselling

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
