Focus is given to understanding the nature and origins of problems and how change can occur. Our many experiences in life , the messages we may have taken from these and how they may now play out in our lives can impact on us day to day. However this is often out with our awareness as a result of habit. The difficulty can be identifying what these are and actually recognising that there are different perspectives and alternative ways that we can learn to cope and function in a way that feels healthier. Using a
CBT
approach we can work collaboratively to explore and understand your problems further, and begin to identify possible unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviours that may currently be causing you difficulty .

Hello, and thanks for looking at my profile. I’m an accredited therapist with over 15 years experience, and wholly comfortable in dealing with a range of issues, from trauma to confidence, to abuse to anxiety. I’ve been described by former clients as friendly, easy to talk to and empathic. For me, the most important element in therapy is whether you feel you can trust me - and I know this is not always easy. You’ve likely been hurt and perhaps a little wary and weary of people. I’m not going to fix you, I can’t! Though the good news is, by working collaboratively, you absolutely can fix you, of that I have no doubt.

I use
CBT
and counselling and I have experience working with clients and employees in NHS hospital and clinical environments, seeing people from a range of disorders from anxiety, grief, trauma, abuse and depression to name a few and have a huge passion for anxiety and depression related disorders.
You might come with different problems, be it anxiety, pain, sadness, loss of family and friends. You also might have an old wound that doesn’t seem to heal. Imagine if you didn't discuss your worries, how would your life be? Then imagine, If someone said "aha, I get you!", then how do you think your life would be? You might wander back and forth for years thinking you don't need therapy, because others didn't. If you're still in distress, why should YOU do the same? My focus is to help you re-connect with loved ones again and equip you with long-lasting therapeutic skills.

We all experience emotional pain; as an infant, a child, a teenager, a parent and an adult. Whether it’s in response to life events (e.g. loss, trauma, moves), transitions (e.g. to adolescents, as a parent, retirement), adjustment to ill health (e.g. cancer, chronic illness, injury) or life in general (e.g. long term low mood or anxiety). Accepting that we need help and support can be hard and daunting. Getting the right help is important and can teach you how to live a fulfilling life.

I would say my main base is
CBT
(
Cognitive
Behavioural Therapy) which is essentially a mesh of talk therapies based on the theory that thoughts, feelings, what we do and how our body feels are all connected.
Life can throw many things at us, sometimes we need help finding new ways of coping and sometimes we just need to offload knowing someone is hearing us. Whether you need help dealing with everyday stresses or you’re feeling the burden of carrying guilt or shame. I’m here to help ease that burden or help develop new ways of managing life. I work in a very integrative way; I believe strongly that we are all different and that what works for one person might not work for another.

I work with most psychological difficulties and aim to provide a safe space to explore your individual experiences and challenges. I aim to develop a shared understanding of your experience to help us establish goals for therapy and beyond. These might include processing difficult experiences and gaining insights into patterns of thinking or behaving that are contributing to current difficulties. These insights can help us to identify and support the development of sustainable skills and strategies that will help you to reach your goals and manage difficult experiences and strong emotions.

Hi and thank you for visiting my profile. You have just taken the bravest first step to working towards help through counselling. However, counselling offers a beautiful and safe space with no judgement. I offer a confidential and most importantly a safe space for us to explore and discuss any difficulties being faced. I will support and listen with empathy and respect. Together we can work towards a better future.

Hello! I'm Adele, a
CBT
therapist who has a special interest in treating anxiety and working with 'perfectionism'. Perhaps you are anxious about something specific, eg health or social situations or, perhaps you constantly worry about 'everything & anything’ with worries jumping from one thing to another. It's easy for our thoughts to run away from us, leaving us feeling powerless & filled with fear. Find it difficult sitting with the unknown/adapting to change? Constantly striving to meet unrelenting high standards? I am passionate about supporting you in managing the anxiety you experience, to help reclaim inner-calm & happiness.

Hello, I’m David. A very warm welcome to my page. Life can be really tough and challenging, particularly in these current uncertain times. Our tricky minds are often good at allowing us to become overwhelmed by our thoughts and emotions and this can make us stuck in certain behaviours and struggling to make sense of things. You may find yourself feeling anxious, low in mood or feeling stuck but not sure how to change things. Whatever may be going on for you, it can really help to have someone to talk to impartially to give you the space to talk through your difficulties, gain valuable insights and work towards your goals.

Hello & welcome! Usually there is a reason for taking the step to come along and try therapy. Some people aren’t quite sure what’s going on for them, but something just doesn’t feel right. It's my job to help tease this out with you, and figure out together how to help you move forward. Treating a wide variety of common mental health/emotional problems, I can offer you a safe and non-judgmental space, that exists solely for you, to explore what it is that’s causing difficulty.

How does cognitive behavioural therapy work?
Cognitive behavioural therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario (catastrophizing) or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.
When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioural therapy?
It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioural therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.
How can I find a cognitive behavioural therapist for someone else?
To find a cognitive behavioural therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioural therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.
Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?
CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
