The idea of my approach is an integrative one: I've studied, and I'm qualified to deliver, a mixed modality of therapies to address client issues. From psychodynamic active listening and using a safe space to get things out in the open, or perhaps using CBT techniques to address something specific, either way - I'm equipped to help guide you through what it is that is troubling you, or holding you back, from moving forward.

Do you feel you would like your relationship to be in a better place? Perhaps you're going through a life transition, such as becoming parents, or you're raising a family and you would love to find that spark between you as a couple again. Have you noticed a distance between you, and that you miss the closeness and intimacy you once shared? Maybe your relationship has reached a crisis point such as an affair and you're looking to help your relationship heal. Or maybe communication has become an issue, leaving you feeling that your true needs are not being met and you would like to understand each other better.

Hello, my name is Andy, I’m a counsellor & psychotherapist based in Finnieston, Glasgow and a Registered Member of BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy). I work with clients (aged 16+) in-person and online. Working online means I’m able to help people across the UK & worldwide. I believe the true mechanism of change is through the relationship & although I've extensive theoretical knowledge to assist me in the therapeutic process, it is the connection to my clients which I find is most vital.

I am a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and have spent my career in Adult Mental Health services in the NHS, supporting people individually and in groups. My clinical practice aims to foster increased psychological flexibility to support becoming more emotionally open, cognitively flexible, aware in the present moment and actively engaged in a meaningful life. Between life’s busyness and navigating struggles we can become disconnected from ourselves and what matters to us, spending our days trying to cope rather than living. With compassion we can create a space, a gap within the struggle, to heal and reconnect with your life.

I have trained and practise as a person centred counsellor because I believe everyone has the potential to reach inside and find their own strength and resources, with a little help . There are times in all of our lives when we feel we need some extra help to cope with life events and struggles. I would like to help you through whatever it is that brings you here. Whether it is work, life events, or you're not sure what is wrong but feel something is not right, it can help to share your feelings with that impartial, non-judgemental someone, allowing you to clarify your own thoughts and helping you to see a way through.

Hello and thank you for looking into my profile. It can be challenging finding the right therapist amidst a sea of warm faces and shiny profiles full of experience. However, I firmly believe that like any relationship, the therapeutic one needs to feel like a 'good fit' too. This outlook forms the ethos of my therapy practice as a counselling psychologist where I work in collaboration with a client to bring change through the healing properties of a relationship. At present, I am supporting clients to understand patterns of behaviours from early life that might be impacting adversely on contentment and relationships.

Therapy outdoors, online, or traditional in-person. Many of clients spend their life feeling unseen, unheard and misunderstood. My aim is to get to know the real you. I believe that humans are fundamentally okay and many of the coping mechanisms, patterns we find ourselves in and defences have been genius ways to survive. But life is about more than survival. If you’re facing a recent challenge or trauma, struggling to let go of your coping strategies, noticing recurring patterns, or want to explore the impact of you childhood on your adult life, reach out and we can discuss how we might work together to suit your needs.

I became a Psychotherapist because I’ve seen what it’s like when life breaks you open — when love hurts more than it heals, when you lose yourself trying to hold everything together. But, I have also seen the other side of recovery where pain is turned into healing, boundaries and a greater self worth! My work now is about helping others find their way back to safety, confidence, and connection — whether that’s healing from domestic abuse, rebuilding after trauma, or learning how to have healthy, grounded relationships again. If you’re ready to understand yourself better and start feeling stronger then you’re in the right place.

Deciding to engage in therapy is a positive and brave step towards understanding and healing. As a qualified therapist with twelve years experience (& qualified clinical supervisor ) my role is to create a secure base and be a guide for you, so that you can take up this challenge of self-discovery and move towards greater conscious awareness, choice & empowerment. While working with difficulties in the present, most have their origins in emotional experiences and unconscious emotional learning from early life relationships. Also events and consistent experiences, which may amount to degrees of difficulty, pain or trauma.

I am a Senior Psychologist offering compassionate and deeply relational psychological therapy, both short- and long-term. People often seek support when feeling stuck, overwhelmed, helpless, or highly self-critical. Sometimes clients describe that they cannot get out of patterns of distressing behaviours, thoughts, or emotions, and that relating to both themselves and others seems difficult, painful, or interferes with daily life and future commitments. I listen carefully, we explore their stories, find ways of understanding. I do not believe in a magical fix, but we all can become more ourselves finding appropriate choices.

A warm hello, and welcome to my page! Finding the right therapist — and taking that first step to book a session — can feel daunting. There are so many of us out there, each with our own unique skills and qualities. I could list qualifications and modalities, but in truth I believe many types of therapy can be effective. What matters most is the therapeutic relationship — feeling safe, understood, and able to open up. So take your time, read about me, and trust your gut… it’s normally right!

What therapy types help with codependency problems?
Both couples and family therapy and cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) can help with the relationship difficulties referred to as codependency. Such problems typically include inappropriate feelings of responsibility for a loved one’s destructive behavior, irrational patterns of thinking about such behavior, and family interaction patterns in which the needs of one troubled member override the needs of others in a household.

What happens in therapy for codependency?
Spouses and family members learn and practice how to interact and support each other in a healthy way without sacrificing their own needs or well-being. They learn the limits of their responsibility for their loved ones and correct faulty patterns of thinking and feeling that underlie codependent behavior. Individuals may be encouraged to nurture an array of social relationships and to cultivate their own talents and interests so that they develop a healthy sense of self outside the family.

How does therapy help a person or couple overcome codependency?
Therapy helps people establish healthy ways of being in a relationship. Spouses and family members learn how to nurture and support one another without sacrificing their own needs or allowing the needs of one person to dominate the dynamic. Individuals learn how to say no and set boundaries, and how to maintain their own identity and self-esteem. Therapy helps people understand that they are not responsible for the feelings and actions of others. It also helps individuals deal with the turbulence that can come from living with a person suffering from such conditions as substance abuse and mental illness.

What is the goal of therapy for codependency?
One goal of therapy for codependency is to alleviate feelings of responsibility for and correct irrational patterns of thinking about loved ones whose behavioral problems override the needs of others in a household. Therapy helps people establish healthy boundaries of behavior and speak up for their own needs in a relationship. In addition, people learn how to maintain a healthy relationship, one in which both parties give and receive equally and are able to retain their own identity.
