I also approach parents, care-givers and families with openness and empathy, ensuring I can be alongside you in finding the best way to support you, your child or young person.
Hello, and welcome! My name is Imogen, and I am a Dramatherapist. I have worked for a long time in communities using art and theatre for self expression. I strive to create a creative, non-judgemental and brave space to express all emotions, experiences and thoughts. If sometimes putting things into words feels difficult then we can use the arts therapies to find a way to express them. I always intend to create a space for my clients where they have freedom to play, feel and express themselves.

I am Shaheen, a qualified and experienced therapist working with couples, families and individuals, who would like to deal with life or relationship challenges differently. My approach is systemic, which means looking at issues in the context of relationships, experiences, cultures and situations. For couples or families it's useful for recognising unhelpful patterns and enabling you - between you - to find new ways of managing that fit better with how you would like to be. Whatever challenges you are facing, we can explore what the multiple factors are, that may have contributed, and open up space for new ideas.

You might look like you’re coping on the outside—but inside, something doesn’t feel right. Perhaps you feel overwhelmed by your emotions, stuck in patterns in relationships, or disconnected from yourself. You may have been through experiences that still linger—showing up as anxiety, numbness, self-doubt, or a constant sense of being “on edge.” Even if things seem fine on the surface, something deeper isn’t settling. If that resonates, therapy can offer a space to begin understanding why things feel this way—and what can start to shift.

I work with people who find themselves overthinking everything; who are overwhelmed; who avoid and shut down. I also work with people who never feel good enough, as well as those who find that their past continues to affect their lives and relationships in the here and now. I provide a non-judgemental, empathetic space to look at the core issues and build the tools needed to work through, transform, and break the cycles keeping people stuck. If you find yourself repeating the same patterns, despite maybe having tried to figure it out yourself or with help before, I'm happy to find a time to chat and see if this therapy could help.

I can work with adults, young people, and children.
Sometimes we experience changes or traumas that leave us struggling with the pressures of life, relationships, work, or studies. This can affect our self-esteem, our sense of identity, and our ability to cope. This can become overwhelming and may lead us to unhelpful or harmful thoughts and behaviours. With help, we can overcome our difficulties and learn to manage our emotions more effectively. With compassion, empathy, respect, and a safe space, we feel heard, considered, and valued. By understanding our thoughts and behaviours we can feel empowered to make positive changes that can lead us to fuller and more enjoyable lives.

I work with children, young people, and adults, finding creative ways to connect when words alone don’t quite reach.
My work weaves together conversation and creativity, drawing on images, objects, storytelling, and art making. As a dramatherapist, I find that when words feel out of reach, metaphor and imagination can open another way in, offering space to explore experiences, make sense of feelings, and discover new ways forward at a pace that feels right for you.

FAQ - About Child Therapy
When does a child need to see a therapist?
Children naturally experience emotional ups and downs. Sometimes, though, they need support from a professional. A child may benefit from therapy if their emotions or behaviours change significantly within a short period of time. For example, if a child usually spends time with friends after school but begins isolating in their room, further inquiry is warranted. Other areas for concern include altered sleep patterns, lack of appetite, intense anger, irritability, or hopelessness, or developmental regression in young children (bedwetting, thumb-sucking).

What can a child therapist help with?
A therapist can help with any difficult experience a child may encounter growing up, including learning problems or anxiety related to school, relationship challenges with friends or parents, bullying, intense emotions or phobias, divorce and family dynamics, or the death of a pet or loved one. A therapist can help children process their experience and develop coping skills in an age-appropriate way

What therapy types are most suitable for children?
Children can benefit from different forms of therapy, including family therapy, parent-child interaction therapy, play therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, and exposure therapy, depending on their condition. Play therapy is a great option for younger children who may not be able to fully articulate their feelings. In this approach, kids play with toys and games while a therapist observes and helps the child express their emotions and develop coping skills.

Do I need to attend therapy with my child?
Parents are an integral part of a child’s therapy, but the specifics of their involvement vary. If your child is young, you may attend most or all sessions; if your child is older, you may attend a few sessions or none; sometimes a therapist may ask you to have a session on your own. Whatever the arrangement, you should expect to work collaboratively with the therapist, your child, and your family members to take steps to help support your child.

How can I tell if a therapist is a good fit for my child?
A child needs to feel comfortable opening up about their thoughts and feelings, so if your child feels a sense of comfort, ease, and trust with their therapist, that’s a great sign. In addition, a therapist is a good fit for your child if the two can communicate well together; a clinician should be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and in an age-appropriate manner.
