I use a range of approaches, including cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), person-centred therapy, emotionally focused therapy, and meaning-centred psychotherapy for cancer patients.
I believe everyone should have a safe and healing place to work through life's difficulties, and I love working with children, teens, families and couples. I work from a collaborative, strengths-based approach, assisting and supporting you to be the author of your own life. I further believe the therapeutic relationship should be one of authenticity and collaboration that feels safe and supportive. I work with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, disruptive behaviours, relationship challenges, self-esteem, and end-of-life/ terminal diagnosis related challenges.

You might be someone who looks like they’re coping—holding things together, supporting others—but inside, you feel anxious, shut down, or stuck in patterns that don’t make sense. You may have a history of childhood abuse, neglect, or sexual trauma, or just a sense that something from the past is still shaping how you feel now. You might struggle with trust, boundaries, or feeling safe in your own body. You want space to understand what’s going on, to feel less overwhelmed or numb, and to start making sense of what you’ve been through. You want to feel more connected to yourself and others—not fixed, but more whole.

Ideally, you’ll feel open to hearing what psychology can do for you. You’ll feel able to speak about what life’s like for you and where you want to get to. I won’t ask you to disclose all that’s happened to you but I’ll be able to hear what you feel ready to share. As well as trying to fix things, we’ll look to see your positives and build on them. Your instincts will tell you if I’m the right person for you and whether you feel ready to embark upon a change process.

Are you feeling weighed down by low mood, anxiety, or trouble sleeping? Whether these feelings stem from a challenging life event, a major transition like changes in health or employment, or seem to have appeared out of nowhere, it can feel overwhelming. You may even feel stuck, unsure of how to move forward, and disconnected from the things and people that once brought joy and meaning to your life. When life feels this way, it’s easy to withdraw, which can unintentionally deepen those feelings of isolation and helplessness. But it doesn't have to stay this way!

You may have always felt a little different or out of step, without quite knowing why. Perhaps you’re starting to recognise yourself in conversations about autism, ADHD, or neurodivergence, or you’re simply curious about understanding yourself more fully. You might feel tired, overwhelmed, or unsure about relationships, work, or past experiences. In therapy with me, you’ll find a gentle, calm, and understanding space where you can slow down, feel heard, reflect safely, and explore things at your own pace — without pressure, judgment, or needing to have all the answers. I also provide clinical supervision for other therapists.

Sometimes the ways we’ve always handled things just aren't enough. You may be feeling stuck, overwhelmed anxious, depressed, stressed, or are simply disconnected from the person you want to be – but you don’t have to navigate those feelings alone. My approach is rooted in the confidence that you have what it takes to adapt and overcome the challenges facing you. I won’t offer "quick fixes" or give you a label; instead, I offer a non-judgmental space in which you can examine your experiences openly and productively.

A warm hello, and welcome to my page! Finding the right therapist — and taking that first step to book a session — can feel daunting. There are so many of us out there, each with our own unique skills and qualities. I could list qualifications and modalities, but in truth I believe many types of therapy can be effective. What matters most is the therapeutic relationship — feeling safe, understood, and able to open up. So take your time, read about me, and trust your gut… it’s normally right!

I know how difficult it is to reach out for support and how bumpy our personal journey can be at times. I am a fully qualified, experienced therapist and I work with a variety of issues including trauma, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, bereavement, relationship issues and stress. I believe that the key in my therapeutic work is simply being there for you with an open heart and mind. Being fully present means meeting you and your life's journey with empathy and compassion, because I know from the experience how powerful it can be to feel really seen and understood.

Sometimes we experience changes or traumas that leave us struggling with the pressures of life, relationships, work, or studies. This can affect our self-esteem, our sense of identity, and our ability to cope. This can become overwhelming and may lead us to unhelpful or harmful thoughts and behaviours. With help, we can overcome our difficulties and learn to manage our emotions more effectively. With compassion, empathy, respect, and a safe space, we feel heard, considered, and valued. By understanding our thoughts and behaviours we can feel empowered to make positive changes that can lead us to fuller and more enjoyable lives.

Cancer Counsellors
How does cancer affect mental health?
A cancer diagnosis is a major life event that can significantly influence the mental health of any individual. Being diagnosed with cancer often introduces a sense of uncertainty about the future, which can cause clients to experience symptoms of anxiety, depression, and significant distress. Many cancer patients may also worry about the toll that their diagnosis may have on their family, their physical health, their job, and their financial situation. The compounding of such stressors can also decrease mental health in clients and may lead to additional symptoms that can influence mental health, such as sleeping difficulties or social withdrawal.

What is the best psychological therapy for cancer patients?
The best type of psychological therapy for cancer patients is highly dependent on the needs of the individual. The therapy type that a client benefits from may also depend on what stage of the cancer journey they are in. Recently diagnosed cancer patients, for instance, may benefit from therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which can help clients develop skills to manage the emotional distress that comes with a cancer diagnosis. Alternatively, cancer patients further along in their journey may benefit from therapies like Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) or other forms of mindfulness therapy to help manage symptoms or physical pain associated with treatment. Clients may also consider group therapy, which offers cancer patients an opportunity to receive support from other individuals dealing with a cancer diagnosis.

Are there any risks or drawbacks in going to therapy while dealing with cancer?
Although attending therapy while dealing with a cancer diagnosis can be helpful, one major concern for cancer patients can be the financial cost of seeking therapy. Many therapists are out-of-network, meaning they do not accept insurance, and thus clients are expected to pay the entirety of the session fee. Since many cancer patients may be out of work as a result of their diagnosis or cancer treatment regimen, the costs of therapy sessions can be substantial. Luckily, many cancer centers and local clinics may offer free or substantially reduced-cost counselling services to cancer patients and their families. In addition, cancer patients may be eligible for grants or other forms of funding from local agencies and nonprofits to seek therapy for their cancer diagnosis. Such opportunities can be very helpful for cancer patients, as they allow clients to obtain the benefits of therapy without the financial strain.

How long does cancer therapy typically last?
The length of cancer therapy depends on the needs of each client. In some cases, cancer patients may only require therapeutic support during the period following their initial diagnosis—to help manage the uncertainty and shock of a cancer diagnosis. In other cases, clients may choose to receive therapy throughout their treatment, and even following, their cancer journey. Pursuing therapy for a longer period of time can help clients develop a deeper relationship with their therapist and provide opportunity to process the challenges presented by cancer treatment, such as physical pain, and challenges associated with cancer survivorship, such as ongoing identity concerns, physical limitations, or relationship challenges.
