Hello and welcome. If you are reading this, you are likely feeling in a stuck, difficult or distressing place in your life. We all bring a unique history and mind-set to the life difficulties we encounter. These will have given us strengths to help manage problems, but sometimes we need to discover new ways we might feel, think or act. I think of my specialism as 'stuckness' - whether in emotions, relationships or unhelpful behaviours - which is often expressed in terms such as: anxiety, depression, stress, fear, trauma, low self-esteem, sleep problems, bulimia and binge eating, adjustment to loss, illness & major life changes.

My ideal client is someone experiencing emotional distress, feeling stuck or overwhelmed by life’s challenges. They may be dealing with anxiety, depression, self-doubt, or struggling to adjust to significant changes like illness, loss or life transitions. They often feel disconnected, unsure of how to manage their emotions and are searching for sense of stability and inner peace. Their needs include a safe nonjudgmental space to express their feelings and emotions and get practical tools to cope with overwhelming situations. What they want is genuine support, understanding and a collaborative approach to overcoming their struggles

We all encounter times in our lives where we may feel anxious, sad, angry, or stuck in a pattern of unhelpful behaviour. This may impact our day to day lives, our relationship with ourselves and our relationship with others. We may know that something has to change, but not be entirely sure how to move forward. By offering a safe and impartial space I can help you.

Life can become difficult for many reasons, and we all need support at times. I am caring, empathic and passionate about supporting people to overcome their difficulties. Anxiety, depression, bereavement and loss, trauma, relationship problems, sexual difficulties and low self-esteem are some of the things I can support you with. I have a particular interest in life transitions, especially menopause. However, therapy sessions don’t need to be limited to times of distress. Therapy can give you space to focus on your personal growth. It is a great way to take time to explore yourself, your needs and prioritise self-care.

Abuse can have a significant affect on mental health. Whether the abuse happened as a child or as an adult, abusive experiences can lead to low mood, high anxiety, flashbacks to incidents, difficulty trusting others as well as low self-confidence and self-esteem, even when the abuse is historic. These are all normal reactions to difficult and painful experiences. I have worked with people who have experienced abuse for the last 15 years. The work has been transformational for some clients and very helpful for others, whether the abuse is within the family, workplace or within a relationship.

I work with relationships & all family dynamics - ‘logical and biological’ - stuck communicating safely through conflict and disconnect. In therapy we work together to find a compassionate understanding of the challenges you have, how they are impacting you, and strategies to think, feel and be different in them to feel safe and secure. Knowing how to have confident relationships with those around us is how we thrive and this often means learning new ways to talk, act and self advocate within them. Communication is the lever of connection and psycho-education is part of our therapy so we understand ourselves, and others, better.

What if. Two words that send your mind down a well-worn path. Words and images that pop into your head at any moment and no matter how hard you try to push it away you find yourself stuck; thinking, feeling and doing the same thing over and over. Maybe it’s reliving the past, maybe it’s worrying about the future, or feeling you need to do something right now or something bad will happen. “What if” is hard to live with. But when your mind is stuck in the “what if’s” your brain is telling you there is something you need to figure out, something you need to rebalance.

Deciding to engage in therapy is a positive and brave decision to embark on a journey of self-discovery. As a qualified therapist (and clincal supervisor) with ten years experience, my role is to create a secure base and be a guide for you, so that you can take up this challenge of self-discovery and move towards greater consciousness, choice and positivity. While working with difficulties in the present many have their origins in emotional experiences and unconscious emotional learning in early life relationships. Also events and consistent experiences, which may amount to degrees of difficulty, pain or trauma.
