I also integrate other therapeutic perspectives into my work including Compassion based therapy, Acceptance and Commitment therapy and Trauma focused therapy.
Looking for a counsellor is already a brave step. My hope for you, is that we can explore whats distressing you, what’s maintaining it and how we can bring about positive change. Anxiety, Low Mood and Relationship struggles amongst others, are all issues we can face at various times in our life. Understanding ourselves better and how to best cope can begin to alleviate the discomfort felt in emotional distressing times. Therapy provides a safe space to explore what's keeping you stuck, what's driving it and how to unlock yourself from thinking and behaviours that no longer serve you.

However, during our time together we will build a trusting and supportive relationship, one that you may find solace in. I work with clients from all backgrounds and I offer support for adults and young people aged 11+. I support clients with a wide range of issues such as anxiety, trauma, relationship breakdowns, bereavement, self-harm, family conflict, women’s cultural issues, eating disorders and anger management. In particular, I am highly experienced in working within the south asian community.

I use a mixture of acceptance & commitment therapy ( ACT), mindfulness and compassion focused therapy (CFT) alongside traditional CBT methods to help get you to where you want to be in life.
Do you feel overwhelmed or anxious? Is it all getting too much at times? Do you feel stuck but don’t know how to change? It can help to have someone impartial to talk to who can help you through difficult times and give you some space to deal with whatever is causing your distress. This is where therapy can help. I believe people seek therapy because they want to make a change in their lives. This can be scary, but having felt overwhelmed and anxious at times myself, I hope to be able to offer a supportive, calm, safe environment for you to explore your issues and work towards the best solution for you.

However, as therapy is as individual as the person, I often offer a blended therapeutic approach, incorporating techniques from Coaching, ACT, CFT and Positive Psychology.
Feeling on-edge, anxious or overwhelmed? Know that something needs to change but not knowing where to start or not feeling like you have the confidence to do so? Working with a professional in a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Coaching approach can help to identify and overcome challenges and difficulties you might be facing you in your life. It combines practical coaching techniques – setting out clear, manageable goals in line with personal values– with a therapeutic when needed – to challenge and change unhelpful thinking and behaviour which might be holding you back, in a trauma informed and supportive space.

I also use elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
Do you experience intrusive thoughts that cause distress, a constant doubt over whether you have checked the door is locked, or a need to undertake compulsions to reduce anxiety? Does part of you realise that these thoughts and compulsions are unhelpful, yet you struggle to stop them? Do you worry you are ‘going mad’ due to this? These may be symptoms of OCD, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder which can be treated successfully with therapy. We can work together to overcome this. Intrusive thoughts do not define you or mean you are 'bad', they are simply thoughts, and we will work to together to take away their power.

I often draw on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy ( ACT) as a way of supporting clients to learn skills on being more mindfully aware of their experience and in taking steps towards a more meaningful life.
Hi, I’m Jonathan. I can help with a wide range of difficulties including depression, anxiety, stress, panic attacks, feelings of shame, and low self-esteem. I provide support if you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from your purpose in life. Whether you’re navigating relationship difficulties, exploring issues of identity and sexuality, or dealing with aspects of neurodiversity—such as ADHD or autism—I bring a compassionate and individualised approach. As a foster carer I am also well placed to support couples/individuals with the emotional impact of their fostering/adoption journey.

I find that clients most often opt for methods/exercises from Existential, Gestalt and ACT therapy, and from humanistic psychology.
Patient. Dependable. Approachable. I’m an Irish psychologist and my practice primarily focuses on helping people work through relationship problems. These might be either in your intimate relationship, or among connections with family, close friends, or colleagues. We all carry undeniable relational needs - the safety to be found in a sense of belonging, of getting along, of ties that bind, of a sense of home, plans for the future. Our sense of self is reflected back to us through our close relationships. Trouble within them can weigh on our self-esteem, our valuing of ourselves, and eat away at our peace of mind.

I then integrate different approaches to suit your concern and needs, which may include developing self-compassion, acceptance and increased awareness of the relationship between your thoughts-emotions and experiences.
Are you feeling overwhelmed by the demands of work and life? Do you set high expectations for yourself, only to feel like you fall short? Is your mind racing with worries about what others think, or with the pressure to constantly perform and succeed? You’re not alone! In a world that often values being productive, perfect, and constantly busy, many of us struggle with self-criticism, anxiety, and a sense of disconnection from what really matters to us. Whether it’s the pressure to excel at work, the ever-present feeling that you’re not good enough, or struggling to balance work and personal life, I can help.

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
