Seeking counselling can feel like a big step. Perhaps a confusing one. Let me tell you a little about myself so that you can decide if I am the right counsellor for you. I have a COSCA accredited Diploma in Person Centred counselling meaning that I offer a safe, non-judgemental space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings. I have a creative, eclectic approach and can bring other models into the counselling room where appropriate such as CBT, small world, gestalt and even music. At the moment I offer on-line and telephone counselling, however, post pandemic would also offer outdoor walking therapy.

People who come to me often struggle between who they are and who they think they should be. Some feel stuck in complicated family relationships, between love, duty, and the desire for independence. Others struggle with self-doubt, burnout, or the quiet loneliness that comes with trying to hold everything together. Many of my clients are thoughtful, sensitive individuals who have achieved a lot on the outside, yet feel disconnected from their inner world. What they want, more than anything, is clarity, a sense of peace within themselves, and the courage to live in a way that feels authentic.

Hi, I'm Andy. If exercise feels like something that happens to other people - or something you keep meaning to get back to - you're probably not short of reasons why. Maybe the gym feels like the last place you'd be comfortable. Maybe pain, health worries, or a difficult patch in life got in the way, and the gap has grown wider than you'd like.

I have a particular interest in supporting people who are navigating relationship difficulties, dealing with grief and loss, living with past trauma, negotiating difficult issues in the workplace, loneliness and major life transitions. All these experiences can leave us feeling isolated, uncertain or disconnected from ourselves. Together, I hope we can create a safe space to explore these feelings and develop a deeper awareness of your needs, the relationships in your life, and reach a better understanding of yourself.

Are you experiencing some difficulties at the moment, either as a couple or as an individual, and looking for a space to explore what is going on for you? You may be going through the stress of infertility, and the loss of that assumed future, and are looking for a place to talk through your thoughts and feelings. You may have experienced the loss of a baby, either at full term or through miscarriage, or had a termination for medical reasons. You or your partner may have been diagnosed with a chronic illness, and are looking for a safe place to talk to openly about your worries for the now and for the future.

It takes courage to reach out for support. We can find ourselves stuck in unhelpful patterns and longing for change. Maybe you feel lost, stuck, anxious, depressed or have low self-esteem? Our work together will focus on helping you move forward in the ways you wish. I am dedicated to creating a space where you feel seen, heard and valued. Experience has taught me how essential the strength of the therapeutic relationship is in bringing about positive change. I believe it is through an accepting and compassionate connection that we can transform our perspectives and the way we relate to ourselves and others in the world.

I wonder what brings you here? Life can throw things at us that challenge, block or trigger us, beyond our capacity to work it through ourselves. I’m glad you’re here, seeking support. It’s not an easy journey, therapy. Worthwhile though (in my humble opinion) if you can find the right person to work with. I firmly believe, whatever is going on for you, within each of us lies innate potential beyond our imagination. I always feel honoured to walk alongside people as they unpack and explore their struggles at depths rarely reached in non-therapeutic relationships. My goal is to offer you this uniquely safe space to do this.

Hello, my name is Anna Planedin and my main approaches are psychodynamic and emotionally focused couples therapy. I help people find relief and movement from a place of feeling 'stuck.' I specialize in working with life transitions, loss, trauma, chronic pain, and sex/sexuality. I view therapy as a process of helping you listen to your gut feelings, find safety and containment and feel less alone in overwhelming experiences. It is my hope that through speaking about difficult or taboo feelings with me, you will feel understood and accepted, and that over time you feel more durable in how you respond to difficulty.

You may know exactly what you want from counselling or it may just be a feeling that something isn't right. It might be issues arising from the past or events that are affecting you right now - whatever it is, I believe talking about it can make a real difference. Counselling can feel quite daunting at times and I will be there to listen with warmth and empathy; to be alongside you when there are tough times and to laugh with you when life feels a little lighter. Working together, we can explore what's bothering you and perhaps look at other ways of coping with life so you can move forward with confidence and optimism.
