I am experienced and comfortable talking about sex and relationships, and have specialist experience in psychosexual therapy and sexual health.
Making the decision about whether to start personal therapy, and who to choose as your therapist is can be daunting. There is a lot of choice out there. My first aim will be for us to co-create a space where you feel comfortable, accepted and safe to talk. In my view, therapy works best when you have an understanding of why we are talking in certain ways, when you feel empowered to ask questions and be curious, and when we work together to find ways forward. I welcome feedback, and will check in with you regularly to review how you are experiencing working together. I recognise that your time and money are valuable.

Trauma can include life-threatening events or simply moments where you were overwhelmed and felt helpless. A troubling or terrifying event has an impact on the whole person – it is held in the body, changes ways of thinking, and often comes with an overwhelming set of emotional and behavioural responses. At times, these changes and responses are unhelpful and seriously affect people’s quality of life and their ability to move forward. Working together, we explore and come to understand your current responses. We identify tools that you can use to rebuild your life in a way that works for you.

*Narratives of Us* Values: Compassion - Hope - Wisdom - Clarity. I offer down to earth, jargon free talking therapy from a highly qualified Clinical Psychologist for people who may find themselves sort of stuck, lost, turned around, unrooted… or maybe in need of some space and time to find the right direction. Equally, it can be a place to grow and kindle the things already going well in life, after all, you made it this far! I believe that the person is not the problem, the problem is the problem. I have a gentle manner but I am able to understand problems. I often work with things other therapists have not been able to help completely and have therapeutic solutions to the most challenging issues. I help you understand how the past impacted you. I use a structured approach so you create therapeutic goals which we work towards during the sessions. RELATIONSHIP COUNSELLING involves having both partners spending time to express their point of view and a joint agreement on how to progress the therapy. I usually set “homework” for both individuals and couples to work on between sessions. DISCOUNTS available for block bookings

What if you could be kinder to yourself? What if you could experience less anxiety and low mood? What if you could be supported in healing from past traumas? What if you could become more assertive and set healthy boundaries? Perhaps you don’t know what’s wrong but you’re feeling unsettled, sad, anxious, confused, or stressed. You might have put on a happy mask for too long and you’re exhausted. I invite you to imagine how things could be different and, with this hope - no matter how small the hope might be-, I invite you to get in touch with me.

Sex Therapy Counsellors

Who is sex therapy for?

Sex problems are common in relationships. Many people want a better sex life and want to feel loved and desired by their partner. It is difficult for couples to resolve sexual problems on their own because people often feel ashamed to talk about their sexual desires fearing they are not normal, when in fact a very broad range of preferences and behaviors are normal. A sex therapist can help clarify this and other matters.

Why do people need sex therapy?

Many people do not know how to talk about their erotic needs or their emotional needs, both of which are addressed in sex therapy. Couples often live with sexual difficulties for years before seeking help, and in that time, partners may experience so much disappointment and alienation that they may fear their problems mean they are incompatible. Once people experience disappointment, it is difficult to find resolution without help.

What happens in sex therapy?

People have many misconceptions about what takes place in sex therapy. First, it is a form of talk therapy in which partners discuss their sexual concerns; it does not involve touching or physical exploration of any kind. Sex therapy typically helps couples get comfortable talking to each other about sex so that, in the privacy of their home life, they can openly discuss their sexual desires and make decisions about what they want to do. Couples are typically assigned activities to do at home that build intimacy skills.

What kinds of problems do sex therapists treat?

Very often, partners differ in their degree of sexual desire and struggle over how often to have sex. Or they may have fights about porn use or have difficulty connecting sexually after one partner is unfaithful. Men may have problems with premature ejaculation. Women may find themselves struggling to become aroused or to achieve an orgasm. Sometimes partners feel like they have lost the sense of attraction to their partner. These are all common issues dealt with in sex therapy.
