LGBTQ+ Affirming Counsellors in Edinburgh, SCT
I also understand the pressure related to family, gender, ethnicity, race, LGBTQ+ difference, social class, and religion.
I get that it’s not easy to ask for support and admit to vulnerability. I view therapy as as a journey of discovery, healing and growth. Through 'experiential learning' and 'dialogue' we will work with your ‘embodied awareness’ of ‘how’ you are in relationships, ‘how’ you make choices and ‘how’ you co-create your world. We will look at where you feel 'stuck' and what seems 'difficult'; we will 'stay with' the feelings and complexity that may unfold. I believe change happens organically when we have enough 'support', fully acknowledge the situation we are in, and commit to work.If that resonates with you, please contact me.

Hi there, I’m Amy and I provide counselling to individual adults. I enjoy working with a diverse range of ages, genders and backgrounds. Areas that I have experience working with include issues such as anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, suicidal ideation and self-harm, relationship problems, LGBTQ+ experience and low self-esteem. The therapeutic process that I offer can be flexible to respond to whatever you may need in each moment.

I can help you explore, and make sense of anxiety, bereavement, consensual non-monogamous relationships, death and non-related death losses, diasporic issues, grief, hoarding, identity, isolation, LGBTQIA+, loneliness, polyamory, relationship counselling, and unconventional lifestyles.
My name is Irene. I am an individual and relationship counsellor, and I specialise in pluralistic and philosophical counselling. I believe each client is unique, and my practice focuses on creating a tailored counselling experience for each individual. I provide a non-judgmental space for them to explore and become aware of their experiences and feelings. I position myself as "in" the therapy alongside my client. I try to let the client's pace and rhythm guide the therapy. I offer counselling sessions in English and Italian.

Hello, I'm Kirsti Willis - an autistic HCPC registered Art Psychotherapist (BAAT). I offer neuro and LGBTQIA+ affirming, trauma informed counselling and art psychotherapy to neurodivergent people of different ages (no diagnosis required), couples and families. I also offer advice and support with parenting. Often neurodivergent people feel very anxious, which can result in e.g. frequent meltdowns, as well as sleep issues. They can also struggle with relationships and be low in mood. They are also more likely to be traumatised than a neurotypical person. However, with the right support any situation can be changed for the better.

Are you highly sensitive, an introvert, or a deep thinker wanting to work through what is holding you back? Were you a gifted kid who was told they would go far in life, but instead you're feeling stressed out, burnt out and struggling to get by? If you’re looking to heal from the past and build a strong, compassionate connection with yourself and others, you've come to the right place.

How are you navigating life at the moment? You may have been suffering from emotional discomfort for a while, perhaps it's more recent or maybe the pandemic has had an effect on your mental health. You are not alone, 1 in 4 of us are affected by mental health issues at some point in our lives. Looking for support to understand what you are feeling can be life changing. How we make sense of ourselves, the world and our place in it can affect our relationships, friendships, careers, social lives perhaps even robbing us of our potential. Therapy, through insight and application can deliver acceptance, change, clarity and relief.

Most people come to counselling with a big story - a life full of experiences and challenges that brought them to where they are now. I'd really like to hear your story if you would like to tell it. I am a relational, TA-trained counsellor with extensive experience in working with anxiety, panic attacks, (complex) trauma, self harm, suicidal thoughts and depression. I enjoy working with the LGBTQI+ community, and have specific experience in working with Trans/Non-binary clients. I also have a passion for working with mental health symptoms related to the hormonal cycle, such as Endometriosis, PCOS, PMDD, and (Peri-)Menopause.

My work is intersectional, feminist and LGBTQ+ affirmative.
Just Human Therapy is a humanist, feminist, LGBTQ+ affirming online counselling service based in Scotland. Going to therapy can feel tough, so I aim to make it as approachable as possible. Often this isn't a quick fix, but an explorative, collaborative process to come back to who you are and what you need. If you're struggling with low mood, lingering trauma affects, or obsessive worry, I can support your steps forward.

I have an affirmative stance on working with Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual ( LGBTQIA+) and polyamorous clients and welcome clients of all races, genders, sexual orientations and relationship styles.
Sometimes life throws challenges in front of us which we may struggle to cope with. This could be a sudden and unexpected change like a loss or bereavement. It could be something that we have always struggled with that is making it challenging to move forward with life. Situations such as these can be stressful, and sometimes we can't shake off the anxiety and depression or we may even experience anhedonia (inability to feel pleasure in usually pleasurable activities). It might also be a past trauma or abuse that is causing the challenges in the present life, revealing itself as panic for example.

As a queer therapist, I can help you explore these issues in a safe and non-judgmental place.
I am a person-centred counsellor who primarily works with members of the LGBTQ+ community. While mental health issues can be a huge barrier for anyone, for LGBTQ+ people these issues can be magnified. Often LGBTQ+ folks struggle to feel understood, to feel heard, and can suffer social isolation as a result. Coming out, again and again, to ourselves, our friends, our partners all while finding one’s true sense of self, can be a lifelong mission. My outlook on counselling is based on compassion and honesty, and I work to foster an environment where collaboration is encouraged. Find out more at my website www.beyondlineartherapy.com.

This is a queer friendly space and politically liberatory practice.
