I specialise in supporting people with disordered eating (including ARFID), poor body image, panic attacks and agoraphobia.
We bring this perspective into the present by focusing on what changes we can make -now- to ease the impact of the past, find new ways to cope and live, and (re)connect with a more positive sense of self and wellbeing. I believe any level of distress deserves time, space and care, regardless of whether you might meet diagnostic criteria.

I specialise in disordered eating, RED-S, eating disorders, neurodivergence and the emotional impact of high-pressure or performance-driven environments.
You might look “together” on the outside, but inside, you feel tired, anxious, or stuck. It can feel like you’re living in a world you don’t quite fit into, wondering how everyone else seems to manage what feels so hard for you. You hold high standards, care deeply for others, yet struggle to offer yourself the same compassion. Perhaps there’s burnout, people-pleasing, or concerns about body image. You want to feel calmer and more like yourself. Together, we’ll slow things down, make sense of your patterns, build self-trust, and help you connect to who you really are, not just who you feel like you should be.

Are you looking for the kind of therapy that explores relational trauma and how this is embodied, and affects our relationships with others, food, body and self? If you've found yourself querying your childhood, or wondering why you can't seem to feel ok, or why your relationships seem dissatisfying, or why you feel like you are not able to care for yourself or cope well, come on in. This is a queer friendly space and politically liberatory practice.

The areas in which I specialize are pre/post-bariatric counseling and binge eating disorders.
You’re capable and organised in many areas of life, yet food can feel like the one thing that unravels. You start the day feeling in control, but by evening you’re eating in a way that doesn’t match what you truly want. Then comes the guilt, the promise to “start fresh tomorrow,” and the cycle repeats.
Food struggles are often tied to stress, emotions, and deep-rooted coping patterns. For some, especially those with ADHD (diagnosed or not), eating can become a way to manage stimulation, focus, or overwhelm. Many only realise the link during therapy.

I work with a diverse range of clients but find that most of my clients come to me with neurodiversity challenges or disordered eating.
When working with disordered eating, we work collaboratively to look at where the difficulties may have arised, current issues that maintain these difficulties and explore together ways to make changes and meet the client goals going forward.

As I have worked with Eating Disorders for 13 years I've recently added a Binge Eating Disorder Clinical pathway to my practice, as this can serve as a coping mechanism to an underlying low mood.
I have a genuine desire to help others who are experiencing difficulties with their low mood. If I were to ask you how your mood has been lately what would you say? Irritable, frustrated and angry with bouts of crying, tearfulness or distress. Have you been struggling with relationships, your job, a significant loss maybe or feel very alone just now? Is it starting to affect your sleep, appetite and your day to day living which is starting to feel more like an effort. Living with depressions doesn't have to be so difficult, understanding and making sense of it all can help. This is where i come in.

Hello and welcome! I’m Roz and I am an experienced Pluralistic Counsellor, providing online therapy. I have also worked in creative industries and love working with and nurturing creative minds. Our sense of self is coloured by our early experiences and often determines our adult choices, emotional reactions and internal dialogue. We absorb and adapt to the difficulties of our caregivers and circumstances, often filtered through previous generations of adversity. If this is your experience you may feel easily rejected, anxious, judged, angry or inadequate. You may feel a sense of depression, hopelessness, stuck or overwhelmed.

At the present time I have experience working with clients with the following issues: sexual and physical abuse and trauma; disordered eating; depression; PTSD; parenthood issues; anxiety; bereavement and loss; suicidal ideation; and general discontent or unhappiness.
I practise Psychodynamic Counselling and Therapy in Edinburgh. People seek therapy for many different reasons. For instance, you might feel anxious about something. Or you might feel stuck—leaving you feeling helpless or unhappy. Or you may feel that it is difficult to form meaningful relationships. Sometimes feelings of unhappiness, frustration, anger, or sadness can feel overwhelming. However, through therapy, which involves dialogue and listening, your experience may start to change. As a result, you may feel freer. Therapy allows you to safely reflect on, and express, your feelings.

Eating Disorders Counsellors
What happens in therapy for eating disorders?
In therapy for eating disorders, patients typically describe their eating and exercise behaviours, their patterns of eating in relation to stress, their beliefs about their body, the ways their eating behaviour affects their relationships, and their desire (or lack of it) to change. Such information helps the therapist understand the origins of the disorder and the role it plays in the patient’s life, important for guiding treatment. Attitudes and feelings about food and eating, body weight, and physical appearance are common topics of discussion throughout treatment.
What therapy types help with eating disorders?
Once any acute medical or psychiatric emergency is resolved, psychoactive medication is often prescribed, requiring the supervision of a psychiatrist. In addition, patients receive some form of nutritional counselling along with one or more forms of psychotherapy. For adolescents, family-based treatment is empirically validated and considered the first line of treatment; parents and their children meet weekly with a clinician as the adults are coached on how to nourish and psychologically support the young patient. Adults typically receive some form of individual psychotherapy, intended to resolve the cognitive and behavioural disturbances that underlie the disorder and to relieve the mood disturbances that accompany it. In addition, patients may also be helped by group therapy.
What is the goal of therapy for eating disorders?
The most immediate goal of treatment for eating disorders is to save the life of people who are on a path of starving themselves to death or engaging in eating patterns that are doing irreparable physical harm to their body. Once the acute medical danger is past, therapy is required to understand the nature of the disordered eating and/or exercise patterns, establish healthy eating behaviour, and to tackle the many erroneous beliefs and distorted self-perceptions that underlie eating disorders and continue to pose a threat to health and life. Therapy also addresses the impaired mood that not only accompanies eating disorders but intensifies the danger to health and life.
What are the limitations of therapy for eating disorders?
Therapy can be very helpful for eating disorders—but that can happen only after people recognise they have a condition that must be treated. Especially with anorexia, the distortions in self-image that accompany the disorder can keep people from acknowledging they have a problem. Individuals may in fact see their eating disorder as a badge of self-control. Those with binge-eating disorder may feel too ashamed to seek help. Therapy cannot help those who do not avail themselves of it.
How long does therapy last for eating disorders?
Because of their complexity, recovery from eating disorders is usually a long-term process—measured in months and years— often marked by setbacks and relapse. Some form of help, such as individual or group therapy, may be advisable for much of that time. It is a general rule of thumb that the longer the illness has endured and the dysregulated eating behaviour has taken root, the longer treatment is likely to be needed.
