I have an affirmative stance on working with Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual , Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual (LGBTQIA+) and polyamorous clients and welcome clients of all races, genders, sexual orientations and relationship styles.
Sometimes life throws challenges in front of us which we may struggle to cope with. This could be a sudden and unexpected change like a loss or bereavement. It could be something that we have always struggled with that is making it challenging to move forward with life. Situations such as these can be stressful, and sometimes we can't shake off the anxiety and depression or we may even experience anhedonia (inability to feel pleasure in usually pleasurable activities). It might also be a past trauma or abuse that is causing the challenges in the present life, revealing itself as panic for example.

What if you could be kinder to yourself? What if you could experience less anxiety and low mood? What if you could be supported in healing from past traumas? What if you could become more assertive and set healthy boundaries? Perhaps you don’t know what’s wrong but you’re feeling unsettled, sad, anxious, confused, or stressed. You might have put on a happy mask for too long and you’re exhausted. I invite you to imagine how things could be different and, with this hope - no matter how small the hope might be-, I invite you to get in touch with me.

Sometimes life is difficult or painful and you want something different, a change for yourself. Therapy is a space where we can share our stories, our histories that influence the person that we are, the suffering we may experience. Through this process, we can develop new insights into what has shaped us as individuals. I offer a safe, empathic and confidential space where you can explore, without judgement, your story and any personal difficulties you are experiencing. I will work with you, in your own rhythm, to help you deepen your awareness of your experiences, thoughts, and embodied feelings.

If you are reading this now, it means you are going through one of life’s challenges…and you may need more support.I get that it’s not easy to admit to vulnerability.I offer my companionship on the journey of discovery, healing and growth. Through 'experiential learning' and 'dialogue' we’ll expand your awareness of ‘how’ you are in relationships. We will look at where you feel 'stuck' and what’s 'difficult'; we will 'stay with' the feelings and complexity that may unfold. I believe change happens organically when we have enough 'support' and fully acknowledge the situation we are in.If that resonates with you, please contact me.

Do you often feel a sense of guilt or shame around food? Do thoughts of food become intrusive or overwhelming? Are you often binging or eating until you feel uncomfortable or sick (Binge Eating Disorder)? Perhaps you are fixated on 'healthy' or 'clean' eating (Orthorexia Nervosa)? Maybe you 'purge' by excessively exercising, restricting, making yourself sick, using laxatives, or have a history of yo-yo dieting (Bulimia Nervosa)? Perhaps you avoid whole food groups and are often called a 'fussy' or 'picky' eater (ARFID)? Or a combination of any of the above (EDNOS)? It sounds like you are struggling with an Eating Disorder!

Life is a series of changes, often bringing loss and pain but also the seeds of a positive transformation. Even if you're unsure how to move forward, a theme can emerge. Counselling can facilitate a new understanding of ourselves, our different relationships, our place in the world. By reassessing hopes and fears, we can work towards the difference we want to experience. Alongside general counselling, I have specialist experience in post-natal depression and traumatic emotional and sexual abuse. My approach, however, is to treat every person without presumptions, trusting the space that opens up and finding the best way for you.

Whatever your reasons for being here, you are very welcome. I provide a very safe and confidential space to people from ALL walks of life. Whatever difficulty you are experiencing I can help you to gain insight into why these difficulties exist and persist. Together, we will think about your past relational experiences and how they are unconsciously influencing how you behave now. Developing a profound understanding of your unconscious self can be life changing. “The most fundamental harm we can do to ourselves, is to remain ignorant by not having the courage and the respect to look at ourselves honestly and gently.” Pema Chödrön.

I work with whatever my clients bring into the therapy room and have a particular interest in personal identities and how my clients wish to be seen and accepted in the world. This includes identities around chronic illness and disability, as well as around gender, sexuality and relationship diversity. I do not work as a blank mirror but instead use my knowledge and training to create a dialogue between me and my clients.

Hi there :) Are you looking for support around coming out? Transitioning? Questioning your gender, sexuality or another aspect of your identity? Recovering from experiences of harm? Or perhaps need a safe space where you can feel understood and respected so you can get on with talking about what's going on for you? When we are unable to (safely) be our authentic selves we can experience great stress, anxiety, low mood as well as other challenges. Counselling and an exploratory listening approach such as the one I practice can really help to improve self relationship, reduce distress and isolation & increase well being.

I mainly work with LGBTQ+ clients and those who have always felt different in some way. My focus is on working with you to understand why you feel the way you do and what might help. Perhaps you find yourself becoming anxious, having panic attacks or feeling overwhelmed by difficult emotions. Or maybe you feel like you’re getting in your own way, repeating the same unhelpful patterns and ways of coping which no longer serve you but seemingly unable to change. Together we can help manage the things that currently feel overwhelming and bring about the changes you want.

Does life feel increasingly difficult and you don’t fully understand the reasons why? Anxiety and stress reactions can be overwhelming and it’s hard to make headway against the storm. You may be struggling with symptoms such as ruminating thoughts, panic attacks, difficulty focussing and bodily sensations associated with anxiety. Anxiety can reach into all areas of our life, including personal and professional relationships. You may recognise repeating patterns and want to free yourself from old scripts. It is possible to overcome even long-standing issues and regain hope and ability to live life to your fullest potential.

How are you navigating life at the moment? You may have been suffering from emotional discomfort for a while, perhaps it's more recent or maybe the pandemic has had an effect on your mental health. You are not alone, 1 in 4 of us are affected by mental health issues at some point in our lives. Looking for support to understand what you are feeling can be life changing. How we make sense of ourselves, the world and our place in it can affect our relationships, friendships, careers, social lives perhaps even robbing us of our potential. Therapy, through insight and application can deliver acceptance, change, clarity and relief.

Having the right fit (“therapeutic alliance”) with your psychologist is viewed as the most crucial factor in the healing process. I would encourage you to choose a practitioner with a broad life experience as well as a clinical training in a range of evidence-based psychological therapies. A former lawyer, I practised human rights & social justice law for years in the courts in the UK. This led to my interest in psychology & trauma & therapies to overcome psychological difficulties. I’ve lived in Canada, France, Italy & Scotland and have travelled all over the world, so I hope to have a background which may help you.

In my practice, I work with people who find it difficult to know and express what they want. I also work with clients who have experienced loss, trauma and displacement and therefore lack a sense of safety and belonging. I am experienced in working with people who find it challenging to regulate their emotions and fall into uncontrollable outbursts of confusion, anger, terror and worry. Finally, I specialise in working with individuals who struggle to form and sustain satisfying relationships and so suffer from feelings of worthlessness and emptiness.
