Addiction Counselling in Edinburgh
I have many years of experience working with people who are suffering from the effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) including addiction issues, abuse, neglect, violence, suicide of family member, bullying and trauma.
My way of working combines the skills and theories of my CBT training with the more Psychodynamic and Relational approaches of my Couples Counsellor training. Unhelpful thinking and behaviours can trap us in nasty vortexes of depression, anxiety and addiction. I can support you to become more aware of these processes and make positive changes.

Starting therapy can seem daunting and scary at first. But it's the first step you have taken to embark on this journey. Feeling isolated and not able to make sense of the world around you? Questioning all that you have grown up with? Racing thoughts constantly clouding your mind? Feeling detached, anxious or upset? Not sure how to process what you are experiencing? All this seems pretty overwhelming but more common than you think. Through acceptance and kindness why not allow yourself to be able to make sense of all this through therapy. Let each session speak for itself and discover different parts of yourself.

Are you facing difficulties with how you feel - for no particular reason, or from a known cause? Maybe it is historical or it may have just arisen for you for no known reason. Are you looking for a safe place to look at and explore what is happening for you? I offer a space where you can make sense of what is happening. Psychotherapy is about making sense of what is happening in you; the more you understand about how things are and what they are like the more likely you are to feel better about the world and yourself and your relationships.
