Life can be difficult at times and you might be feeling stuck. You might be anxious, depressed, or struggling with self-esteem and longing to find a way to change. Things happening around you, big life changes, challenges, and trauma experienced in the past, or current relationship difficulties can add up to a quagmire that is tricky to make sense of alone. Together we can start to tease out the specific issues going on for you. The work I do looks to understand unhelpful thinking and behavioural patterns developed in the past and how they impact you in the here and now.

Perhaps you may still experience overwhelming feelings of anger or rage which lie buried deep inside you even decades after these traumatic events took place.
I have been to my own dark places and understand the lived experience of both child/adult trauma. I can help you to free yourself from the pain of the past and live a happier life through compassion and validation of your traumatic feelings. That is where true healing can take place. Then you can be empowered to live your life as you really would wish.

Typical work with clients struggling with stress, anger or trauma would initially involve exploration of symptoms, identification of stuckness experienced and establishing hopes and aspirations.
Life can feel meaningless living without a connection with ourselves, our bodies and each other. Traumatic events and stress can lock us in a state of fear or helplessness causing us to behave reactively or to withdraw from life. The prolonged stress / anxiety of continously trying to suppress symptoms or figure everything out alone can feel completely exhausting right? As we continously battle the many 'shoulds' and judgements we ourselves and others place upon us, decision making becomes a terrifying process, preventing us from living - merely existing. I understand how isolating this can feel going through alone. I am here.

In the past three years, I’ve focused on helping individuals navigate some of life’s most difficult experience, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, anger, relationship challenges, and the impact of grief and loss.
At the heart of my work is the belief that everyone deserves to feel safe, heard, and understood. I strive to create a space where you can be fully yourself, where your voice matters, your goals are valued, and your strengths are recognised. Therapy isn’t just about talking, it’s about being seen, supported, and empowered to move forward.

I understand the unique developmental needs and challenges faced by a younger age group regularly exploring issues around self-esteem, social anxiety, general anxiety, anger, loss, attachment issues, self- harm, suicidal ideation, sexual abuse and neuro-divergence.
How we cope when we feel vulnerable, invalidated, scared, lonely, betrayed etc. can feel out of our control. We do what we can to feel safe. Avoiding feeling vulnerable can show up in many ways. It might be self-soothing in ways we know aren’t helpful, anxiety making our life smaller, anger, self-isolating by rejecting people before they reject us etc.

Anger Management Counsellors

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
