I am a person-centred therapist who primarily works with people who are members of ENM, kink and LGBTQ+ communities.
As a queer therapist who is part of ENM and kink communities, I can help you explore these issues in a safe, informed and non-judgmental place. I understand and appreciate the struggles (and joys!) of queerness and what it means to be able to talk openly about these parts of oneself. I work online with individuals and partners, on a long or short term basis.

As a queer art therapist I'm passionate about helping people addressing traumatic life experiences, tackling anxiety, depression and other symptoms, and affirming and celebrating gender, sexuality and relationship diversity, as well as neurodivergence, whether people identify as LGBTQIA-plus or not.
In a society where individualism, competition and oppression of what is different are dominant, it is hard to find ways for our lives to unfold in expressive and mutually empowering relationship with fellow humans and more than human beings. The relational issues passed through generations that had a traumatic impact on our upbringing, the difficulties related to changes and challenges we encounter throughout our lives, the fear that comes with the uncertainty of an unpredictable future, can be addressed through therapy so that we can bring more joy, ease and agency into our lives.

LGBTQ+ Safe Space.
Whatever your reasons for being here, you are very welcome. I provide a safe and confidential space to people from ALL walks of life. Whatever difficulties you are experiencing I can help you to gain insight into why they exist and persist. Psychodynamic therapy helps you to bring that which is unconscious into conscious awareness which helps you to understand and often resolve internal conflicts that cause suffering. These conflicts manifest as, for example; anxiety, depression and self-destructive behaviours, especially in relationship with others. Psychodynamic therapy can be very effective in enabling life long change.

My practice is (non)Gender, LGBTQIA+, non-monogomy and kink affirmative.
The therapeutic counselling relationship has the potential to pave the way for us knowing ourselves in unexpected ways; accepting ourselves for who we are. I also believe that our own development when we were younger, our past experiences and our past relationships, undoubtedly have a considerable impact on our lives and relationships in the present time.

I welcome neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ clients.
Are you feeling stuck, low, anxious or just not sure how to cope? That what your are going through is just too hard to manage alone? Sometimes an outside perspective is what we need to help us get out of the rut and on to even ground. I work with people who have realised something has to change and are looking for support with how to change it.

I am an LGBTQ+ member, and enthusiastic ally for other queer folk.
I am person-centred therapist with experience in supporting people going through a range of confusion and distress. This can include: anxiety and stress, family and relationship difficulties, sexuality and gender identity, low mood, loss, feeling stuck, and self esteem. Therapy can hopefully offer you a space to explore and connect with your true self. A reconnecting which in itself often helps to reduce tension and anxiety. We will work together with whatever you bring to therapy and gently explore your individual process as we go. I work online and outdoors (Fermanagh, NI).

I especially welcome LGBTQ+ clients and have a special interest in old age/ageing within our community with an affirmative and inclusive outlook.
We all need to feel that we are being seen, that our voice is being heard, in safe and empathetic company. If you are in distress, confused or isolated, I will see and hear you as a whole person, not just as an issue or concern. I will support you by holding a space for you to breathe and reflect on worries, anxieties or uncertainties that may be holding you back and explore ways forward to fulfil your potential. Healing can be found in creativity, used as another form of expression when words run out.

I have often supported people who have experienced trauma, including sexual violence and domestic abuse, and LGBT people.
There are lots of reasons why you might decide to come to counselling. You might be struggling in your relationship with yourself and others, or identifying that you are stuck in different patterns that aren’t working for you. You might be looking for support to explore something difficult that has happened, or be realising that old coping strategies aren’t working for you anymore. I’m an integrative counsellor, which means that I use different approaches to respond to what it is that you need. I will support you to reconnect to parts of yourself that might feel, so that you can be more authentic in your life and relationships.

I have extensive experience with LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities, working with intersectionalities of culture, sexuality, and mental health.
Whether you are processing racial trauma, identity-related challenges, or navigating the expectations of family and society, therapy can be a place to reclaim your sense of self. While I may not have lived your exact experiences, struggle is a universal part of being human and I hold deep respect for the resilience it takes to seek support.

I enjoy working with the LGBTQI+ community, and have specific experience in working with Trans clients.
You might just now feel stuck, lost, or unsure there is any way forward. Through therapy in a safe space I can meet you where you are and see if we can navigate our way 'through the woods'. We can find ways to make this part of your journey easier, whilst exploring and appreciating the difficulties and experiences you have encountered along the way.

LGBTQ+ Counsellors

Do LGBTQ-affirmative therapists receive special training?

Yes. Many therapists who practice LGBTQ-affirmative therapy have completed specialised training, either during their degree programme or as continuing education, to learn the core principles of affirmative therapy and how to best support their LGBTQ clients; some have received certifications in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy. Prospective clients should inquire as to a clinician’s background and training to ensure a good fit.

Why might I want to see an LGBTQ-affirming or LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

Queer and gender-non-conforming individuals frequently experience bias and marginalisation in day-to-day life. Working with a therapist who understands these unique challenges, as well as accepts and affirms their identity, can help LGBTQ clients feel safe and supported during therapy—allowing them to better navigate their relationships, mental health, and anything else that they wish to explore during therapy. It is important to note that many therapists can be effective in their work with LGBTQ+ individuals, even in the absence of specific training or background knowledge. The most important component in therapy is the alliance between therapist and client, and this alliance can exist between individuals with very different backgrounds.

How can I find an LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

You may wish to inquire about a therapist’s expertise with your specific challenges or concerns—depression, for example, or relationship strife—as well as their past experiences treating LGBTQ+ clients. Prospective clients may also ask whether a therapist has obtained additional training and/or certification in LGBTQ-affirmative techniques.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with LGBTQ issues?

Prospective clients should feel empowered to directly ask therapists whether they have received training or been certified in LGBTQ-affirming therapy; competent therapists will be happy to explain their educational background and preferred approach(es) to help a client find the best match for them. Clients may also wish to ask how a therapist has treated clients with their particular challenges in the past and what they expect treatment to look like.

Are all the therapists listed in the LGBTQ directory themselves members of the LGBTQ community?

While therapists may choose to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity in their profiles, the LGBTQ directory features not only those who have shared this information but also those who assert specialised training or experience in providing support to queer individuals, couples or families.
